watching M/ASH for the first time and in the episode i just watched the main guy comes down with a really nasty flu and one of his coworkers asks if he’s running a fever. to which he slyly and deliriously replies

“oh, i’ve got fever to burn ;)”

When a concerned character asks to feel another's forehead, and the sickie has that split second of hesitation where their usual pride and stubbornness peeks through the dazed fog of exhaustion, questioning whether they should brush them off like usual...but they're so worn down that the feverish exhaustion quickly weighs out and they let their friend check away

they’ve been brushing off concern from their friends all day, insisting they feel fine. but whoever is sitting next to them notices the little numbers on the display suddenly start spiking and the sick one can no longer hide that they’re not doing well.

Someone taking their sick friend/partner's temperature while they sit on the bed or the lid of the toilet or the edge of the bathtub, leaning their too-warm head against the healthy one's leg or hip until the thermometer beeps

Whumpee feeling really sick or being in a lot of pain, and they're scared or just in general need of comfort. They can't quite reach caretaker from where they're laying though, so they just whisper something trying to get caretaker's attention. It works, and they look down, "Do you need something, whumpee?"

And they rasp, "hand," with tears in their eyes.

Caretaker feels their heart ache, "of course." And gently take their hand.

fave reddy thing is that although eddie has been psychosomatic’d into thinking he’s very sickly richie is entirely the sickly one. he’s severely allergic to 8000 things and gets heat stroke in a big way every summer and pukes when he runs too fast….i know it i can see it in his face

a sick stubborn someone refusing to take their temperature while they’re awake, because then their loved ones would know how much they’re really struggling. they can tough it out, they just have to sleep it off.

as they drift fitfully off, their friend slips a thermometer between their lips, gently brushing back their hair. the little instrument trills angrily and flashes a deep red as panic ensues from the caretaker and the rest of the group. the sick one is running a dangerously high fever.

Caretaker taking their sick partner/friend/roommate to the doctor because they’re so sick, they have a high fever, and the caretaker decided it was time to go. The only thing is, the caretaker is also really sick, and they end up shivering their way through the appointment and trying to retain information even though their brain is soup.

They’re trying to help articulate the sick person’s symptoms, and they keep interrupting themself to sneeze—attempted stifles at first, but that soon fails, and they feel a little awkward about the whole situation. Even the doctor asks if they’re alright, and they aren’t, really, but they wave the question off because all they want is to get home and get to bed.
