π€ Dark summer aesthetic π€
I've heard that #summerween was trending, and as a witch that loves the dark and goth aesthetic, I thought this was my time to shine... Here's some ideas to cultivate your π€ dark aesthetic π€ while enjoying the summer time...
-- -- --
π€ An unshakeable classic: share scary stories around a campfire with your closest friends. Bonus point if it's in a forest at midnight.
π€ Shadow work under the summer sun: cast your most subversive spell or practice shadow work in the brightest time of day at the peak of summer heat, just to prove that you can.
π€ Listen to music made by Ethel Cain or Lana Del Rey.
π€ Work with the death-adjacent plants that bloom in summer: I'm thinking belladonna, foxglove, black hollyhock, wormwood. You can press them, make a small altar display, or just photograph them.
π€ Collect moon water on nights when the moon isn't out: this summer, new moons are on July 14th and August 12th, 2026. This is called dark moon water and can be used in shadow work.
π€ Wear dark clothing anyway: black linen, dark florals, dramatic sun hats, anything that screams summer gothic.
π€ Some movies I'd recommend: Friday the 13th, Death Proof, X, IT, Fear Street, Jaws, and, of course, I Know What You Did Last Summer.

very irritating how often i see people anthropomorphize nonhuman animals (especially wild animals) on this site and online at large but very disappointing that when someone says 'hey don't project human emotions onto that bird/dog/bear/deer etc.' a bunch of other people are like 'exactly. animals don't care' and then go on to describe nonhuman animals as incapable of sentience, compassion, or thought. perhaps there's a secret option about how nonhuman animals think and feel that's neither 'they think and feel exactly as humans do' nor 'they don't think or feel anything.' but idk i'm just some guy.
itβs a mistake to assume that nonhuman animals have the same conscious experiences as you, but it is also wrong to assume they dont have any conscious experiences at all. both of these are damagingly human-centric, both will lead you to misconceptions about why animals do things, and both completely disregard the unfathomable diversity of possible ways to experience reality.

do you live in seattle (the american city)?
yes
no
please reblog to get this poll out of my bubble, i want reach
so ive been meaning to do this poll for a while because my hypothesis is that seattle is the most Tumblr city, likely in the entire world. tumblr has a huge american majority userbase obviously, but just for comparison going forward, only 0.22% of the american population lives in seattle. as of this reblog, this poll is showing 4% of respondents are seattleites. given, this isnt scientific at all, because my blog just has a lot of seattle connections and seattle followers, but it's still an impressive bias
Well now I'm curious
Do you live in Portland, OR? (the american city)
Yes
No
Just to cover our basesβ¦
Do you live in Vancouver, BC (the Canadian city)?
Yes
No
There should be an option on these polls for "not now but I used to" and "no, but I live close enough to be influenced by them"
