Misunderstandings in the TodoDeku fandom...

This message was sent in one of my friend’s Discord server and started giving death threats to them because of shipping them.

I am here to give my opinions on this message and show my perspective. I also blurred out her profile pic and username because I don’t want to expose her. Sorry for my wrong grammar and I’m also bad at explaining things-

“people ship it cause it’s gay”

I know this might be the common reason why people ship TodoDeku, and sadly, this is one of the reason why those toxic shippers ship them. I also find it annoying when these toxic shippers start bashing other slash/het ships in the fandom. It’s also the reason why the whole fandom is being toxic.

In my opinion though, I ship these two best boys because of their dynamic and deep friendship. I mostly ship people by their interactions and development together, even if it’s LGBT+ or a straight ship. And if Todoroki or Midoriya was a female/trans female character, I would still ship them. I hope that some of the TodoDeku shippers would also have these kinds of reasons why they ship them.

“they barely even interact with each other”

Well they didn’t interact mostly in the manga until their fight in the Sports Festival. After that fight, Todoroki and Midoriya started to become very close friends and Todoroki started to interact with other people in their class. Midoriya is Todoroki’s hero. He changed Todoroki’s life and it helped him to become more open and friendly.

“THEY ARE STRAIGHT”

Todoroki and Midoriya’s sexualities haven’t been confirmed by the creator. Well there are some hints that Midoriya is straight because he’s seen being flustered around girls. Todoroki might also be ace/asexual but maybe he might change in the later chapters or season. Maybe in the future Horikoshi will confirm their sexualities just like what he did to Toga.
