How to Apply A Tumblr Theme Code
This a tutorial with visuals on how to apply a custom Tumblr theme on your blog. Tutorial is under the read more.
First, you want to go to to your blog or your settings to get to Customize button. (On your blog, it would be usually on the top-right hand corner next to the Dashboard button.)
This is what your initial blog will look like.
Second, you want to find a website that makes custom Tumblr themes. You may refer to this page if you want a list of websites and blogs.
Next, find a theme that you like. The post will usually have a preview of the theme, a link for the actual layout of the theme, and another link that leads you to the actual code. For this example, I will be using zuvia’s theme “Swan Song,” which can be found here.
This is the RAW Code for the theme, easy for copy-and-paste.
Now, with your opened tab with the Customize page up, copy-and-paste the code onto the HTML Coding system—that button is usually under the the Preview image on the customizer.
This would be the code--on the left-hand side--for the Default Tumblr Theme on your blog.
Once you have copied and pasted the code of your desired theme, press the “Update Preview” button first, then the “Save” button. You may either press the “Close” button on the previous menu or open a new tab for your blog to see if it had transferred over to it after you have done those two things.
And viola! You now have a nice, customized theme for your Tumblr! To learn how to change certain elements such as the colors on your blog, refer to here! Thank you for reading this, and I hope you learned on how to apply Tumblr themes properly.
*EXTRA STEP!*
Some themes will require you to do an extra step for them to work. It is not a large step. It only takes a minute or two to do. Sometimes, you must change the Default Layout to another preset theme before pasting the custom theme code to the HTML code. The theme you must change it to is the “Redux” theme by jacob, which can be found under the Free Themes section from the drop-down menu above. Click on that theme, and save it by pressing the “Use Theme” button. You may either close the customizer, and re-enter it, or refresh the page to continue.
