is it a good idea? no. is it a fun idea? also debatable. but jonghyuk has suddenly decided that he’s ready to face the one thing in his life that seemingly was the downfall of everything good: skateboarding. he buys two online, because obviously he needs someone else to do this with him. otherwise he’ll be the only one to blame when something inevitably goes wrong. he recruits juno, who seems all too eager to go on this nearly spiritual journey with him.
they’re walking up to the park, which is surprisingly empty for a friday afternoon. jonghyuk moves his skateboard to the other arm, stopping at the outside basketball court which is really the only open space you can use a skateboard on. “so my experience on a skateboard is, um,” he hesitates for a moment to think of the right word, “interesting?” he says, unsure of how else he should phrase it. “but who knows, maybe falling down a long staircase with a skateboard and injuring yourself severely is just the sacrifice you have to make in order to do cool skateboard tricks.”
he tosses his backpack on the edge of the court, making his way to the middle. he puts the skateboard down, staring at it for a moment. he feels annoyed by the small twinge of anxiety settling in his stomach. he holds his hand out, beckoning juno to come closer, “okay i’m just gonna use you as balance for a second.”
