if i DO listen to music (for mood purposes), it's stuff without lyrics, or else it's way too distracting for me. otherwise, i'm one of those i-need-a-relative-amount-of-silence-to-concentrate kind of people on the infrequent chances that i'm actually writing. to each their own though; the whole pre-writing writing process can be an annoying trial-and-error piece of shit to nail down.

I agree with the trial-and-error/pre-writing process. Its so goddamn annoying and most of the time I try to avoid it and just write everything in the way I want it instantly. Most of the time I fuck up but thats another story.But ahh, I really love listening to stuff without lyrics but then again I also think lyrics inspire ... its so hard.

I used to write while listening to music (just whatever I was listening to at the time, no special writing music) but anymore I find that either the music distracts me or I get so into the writing that I'm not paying attention to the music anyway, so I mostly write in silence.

I wish I would get so into it that I wouldn’t notice whats going on around me but I’m so EASILY distracted. More power to you though ‘cause that’s amazing.

right now i'm writing fanfic and have burn notice going on in the background. i've already gotten to season 4 and started it at the same time i started writing the fic

Oh boy I feel you, I once watched 4 seasons of a show (20 minutes per episodes) in a half week while writing on something but I got so distracted because of it ... RIP. I hope it won’t happen to you.
