RE: The Handmaid’s Tale. I do consider what happened to Emily in episode 3 to be one of the most terrible things I have seen on screen. It still gives me nightmares. I will never watch the episode ‘Late’ again.
But the most horrific thing: This happens to girls all around the world.
And unlike Emily: They don’t get the luxury of anesthesia or a hospital or being fictional.
Lydia: ‘Relax, you won’t want what you can’t have.’
She is essentially speaking for everyone in real life who thinks FGM is fine.
