"no, i'm not going to drop it," brenna's voice raised a tad. she wasn't trying to yell, but rather just remain firm and not back down. maybe she could sense something was off or her own magic was building up. she couldn't quite tell. that was besides the point though. usually those words, even spoken by a true human, didn't mean they were fine. to her it meant away to say go away and leave it be, but brenna couldn't do that. she was family, they were cousins. she wouldn't drop it, no. she couldn't. "i'm not going to let it go, hope. please."

“look, i’m sorry for the outburst,” she paused, her eyes drawn downward, “but at least nobody was hurt.” brenna’s magic had gone a little haywire and caused a surge that blew over a bookshelf. she’d spent all day helping to clean it up, knowing that was the least she could’ve done.

maybe the anger was obvious, but she didn't care if this wasn't convenient for hope or not. brenna had every right to feel this way after what had gone down. her hands soon balled up into fists as the door swung closed behind her. "you can say please all you want, but that alone isn't enough to fix this."

"yeah, i love you too mom," she laughed before hearing her other mom speak up, "and i love you as well mother. tell vincent i love him too and i can't wait to come home for my next break. see you soon," brenna finished before ending the call. after that she put her phone down and plugged it into her charger. only a couple more weeks and then she'd be able to go home. she definitely needed that break with how much schoolwork she'd been doing. it was final year at the school too.
