@whatsbehindthefacade // closed starter for daella & daeron
daella had heard the news about her brother becoming a father and had felt happy for him and for kiera as well. there were selfish thoughts of gratitude though too. the arrival of the new child had distracted the whole court after all. she had wanted to keep her own news hidden for as long as possible. daella just hoped to delay having to tell her father for as long as possible. he'd already been close to sending her away for her marriage anyways.
daella re-focused her attention back on the present and turned the corner in the hall. when her eyes fell upon her brother she smiled. "congratulations brother," her voice soft as she slowly approached. she had hoped to not startle him or catch him too off guard. "i heard the baby is a girl and that she and kiera are both doing well. how are you though? how do you feel?" she reached out to place a hand on his shoulder.

daella felt herself prick at her nails as she looked down at the ground. she hadn't planned any of this to happen. that fateful day in the stables when she'd turned around and saw those gorgeous blue eyes. she'd been singing and grooming her horse when he'd shown up. and now here they were and his words swirled about in her mind. her family wouldn't like this situation, but the bigger part of her didn't care. this was what she wanted. screw the princess and knight label they both had slapped onto their lives. she just wanted to be one woman and he one man. to forget about the world around him, even for one moment. duty be damned.
"duncan," her gaze turned upward, right into his eyes. daella stopped fidgeting with her hands as she focused her attention on what she needed to say. "right now you are just duncan to me and to you, i just want to be daella. that is all. duty? i just want to forget about that, cast it aside," she reached forward to place a hand on his arm, a gentle touch. "i know what i am, but i know what i want too. i just want to be able to have this for as long as possible." her eyes remained locked onto his and they always got to her. if not his smile then definitely his blue eyes had won her over. "it's a lot to say, but i stand by it." again, duty be damned because there was definitely danger in this. she had a betrothed waiting for a date to be wed and yet she could only think of the man before her.

Maybe he knew how she truly felt. Sure she didn't have any real feelings about her soon-to-be husband, but she welcomed the chance to get away. For so long she'd tried to be on her own and do her own thing and then the time came to wed her betrothed. He wasn't necessarily ugly or anything too unpleasant, but she had fallen for someone else she couldn't have.
Her brother wished her happiness in her union and it made her want to hide her truths even more. "I would hope to see you at Summerhall at least. Unless you believe Tarth might call to you one day," she extended the early invite. Her husband would have to deal with that fact later.
"I will not cry, not now. Maybe when I leave for Tarth I will," her expression softened with his hand on her head. It made her feel safe. Even though this had entirely been a political match, or one to keep her away from her lover, she'd keep her tears for another day. "I would like to write letters as often as possible too, brother."

Daella's grip on the reins loosened as she looked at the knight. Perhaps her words had confused him or maybe her showing up at all. But she carried no ill will towards Ser Duncan. She certainly carried her own opinions about him that weren't twisted by other's views of him. "I wanted to speak with you privately. But if you'll allow to me to stay, would you be able to hold my horse's reins as I get off?" She held the rope out towards him, hoping he wouldn't turn her away.

Daella had been what most people would say "a good girl" for the whole day. It may have come at the cost of her boredom, but alas. Things had to appear a certain way and being mischievous all the time wasn't always a good look. "I snuck out of the grounds last night and ran around a flower field. The knight outside my door had no clue I had disappeared." It felt silly, invigorating even. She knew it had been wrong to sneak off, especially at night, but she knew there was a chance she'd do it again.
