Suddenly people won't talk to me...did I offend them by being Chibi? :c
What was it like growing up with your parents, before they died?
"It was nice," Jet attempted to keep his voice even, not wanting to delve into his thoughts all to much. He tended to keep the memories suppressed for the few months, not particularly enjoying the remembrance of his painful memories- because as much as he wanted to focus on solely the time he spent with them, he couldn’t. His mind immediately linking any event or memory of them to that dreaded night of their passing. Inwardly, he winced, swallowing hard in an attempt to muffle any sort of reaction he could have given off. It was a hard thing for him to think back to, but as he let his body relax, letting go of the memory that coaxed the more precious, tender and loving ones.
He remembered when his mom would ask him to help around the kitchen, him haphazardly throwing spices into the stew she made. Or in the mornings when she would sit by the side of his bed, caressing his face gently as she whispered ‘rise and shine, my boy’ in her soft gentle tone. He remembered the warmth that radiated off of her whenever she would hug him or smile, a similar feeling he got from Katara’s hugs. He remembered how she would play with him whenever he was bored, or if he finished his chores and listened. And then memories of his father flooded in, thoughts of when he would let Jet help him in the harvest, or when he talked to his dad, listening intently, picking up his speech and building a habit of it. He could remember the long hours the two of them would stand in the sun, Jet’s shorter stance mimicking his. A lazy stalk of wheat loosely hanging out of each of their mouths.
It was a good life- a hard life- but a happy life. And Jet would be lying to himself if he said he didn’t miss it, he wanted it back more than anything, it was his foundation and his past, it was the basis of his morals, of his intentions, it was where he learned to love and he accepted all of that. He missed it, he wanted it back.
