She squeaked softly as she was grabbed, more out of surprise than anything. She assumed most hunters to be gruff, yet he seemed…kind in a way. Quick to help, at the very least.
“Thank you, kindly.” She said, her cheeks burning a little. “I am usually more prepared, but it seems I had underestimated these woods after such rains.”
She frowned slightly as she spoke, for she had long ago lost feeling in her feet on account of her mud-caked boots. “And I suppose it only gets worse up ahead?”
Ahris stood up straight and squinted off into the distance for a moment then looked back to the woman to give a nod in response. “Probably flooded up ahead.” Then he looked back up ahead instead of looking at her.
He gave a deep huff of air as he shifted his hammer better on his shoulder and offered a free hand to her. “I will take you.”
