It’s quiet on nights like tonight, where the air is still and the temperature drops just past freezing. These are when Aladdin finds himself perched onto the window sill, looking down at the dreary citizens below falling back into their homes. He thinks here, learns and studies at a much easier pace, and honestly loses track of time just as easy too. By the time the flickering candles of the streetlights dim, nearly everyone is neatly tucked into their bed, leaving the young man alone to ponder the papers in front of him.
It’s then that a shiver runs up his spine; a chill that most would find frightening, but he doesn’t seem to mind. It just means he’s nearly by.
And rightly so.
He doesn’t turn to look at him, not even giving him the slightest bit of attention sans the smile that spreads onto his lips.“I was beginning to wonder when you’d decide to show up.”
YCH commission turned gift for @horrendoushaddock! One of two haha
I really love these two
Through out the past four years, a number of things had changed the world - some for good, some for bad. Hakuryuu had managed to expand the Kou Empire with the power of his djinns and the aid of his magicians, creating a world that was riddled with turmoil and strife. This lasted for nearly three years before someone had finally stepped up and brought him down in a fiery clash of King vs King. Magi vs Magi.
The only difference was...Aladdin had come out on top. Judar hated the thought of being in the dark continent more than anything, he knew, and thus, his punishment for all the lives, all the wars and trouble he’d ever made would be settled there. Though he would have limited magic and magoi, he would be able to walk free and do as he pleased under the careful watch of the nineteen year old.
He’d picked a relatively nice house to live in too, situated on a cliff with a incredible view of the lake below. It’s strategic in a way that he knows nothing will ever be able to surprise them there, but still...Judar would fuss. Luckily enough, the trip over isn’t nearly as long as he’d thought and after a few teleportation spells full of the necessary requirements to make it cozy, he seeks an audience with the magi in question.
He won’t be happy to see him, Aladdin knows. Not after all that had happened between them. ..
With a wave of his hand and a thank you, he ushers the guards away in order to get a few seconds alone before their departure.
“Judar. Are you alright?...How are you feeling?”
He’d managed to get through most of his day okay for the most part, though that weird text from Judar had thrown him into a complete loop around lunch time ( and yet, the jerk hadn’t even bothered responding ). Other than that, Aladdin felt rather accomplished with dealing with classes, taking care of his after school activities and making sure things were prepared for the next school day - even if it was exhausting.
The trip home was quiet enough, and with a quick “I’m home” shot to his mother, he makes his way up the stairs and towards his room. It only takes him a second to really let his guard down, choosing to close the door and lean against the wood of it before finally flipping the switch on.
The day had gone by rather fast. He’d managed to get all his homework, and those two papers done in a matter of a couple hours, had dinner, and organized the bookshelf. All in all, Aladdin considered it rather productive. In fact, perhaps a bit too productive, and with good reason too.
Judar hadn’t come home.
He’s used to those late nights, hearing the quiet shuffling of an exhausted body collapsing onto the bed next to him, so when it hadn’t come last night, he’d begun to worry. Countless upon countless thoughts had rang through his head, most of which did nothing to soothe him, and with each unanswered phone call, Aladdin became more and more desperate. He’s lost count of just how many times he’s rang only to hear that familiar sarcastic voice mail over and over again, taunting him in ways he never thought it could.
That’s when it came.
Hakuryuu was frantic and nervous he could tell, and most of what he’d said had gone out one ear and into the other ( something about not supposed to say, he’ll kill me, etc, etc. Aladdin didn’t know and didn’t much care. ). All it took was one ‘Where is he’ before the older male had cracked and given him the address and room number. Deep down, he’d thought the worst of the situation. The fights Judar would get into were hardly considered gentle, and on more than one occasion his boyfriend had come home with more than just a few scrapes and bruises. It would seem this time had been too much, and Aladdin’s heart sunk.
He wanted to be mad; to yell at him for being so careless about his own personal health, but the moment his eyes set on the bloodied bandages and unconscious body, he nearly feels himself break. This was Judar, the only person in the world that he couldn’t live without, and to see him like this…batter and bruised, sleeping amongst the deafening beeping of machines…it shattered the young male. Hesitantly, a hand reaches out and grasps a hold of his the moment he’s within range, taking it and cradling it like it’s crumble if he squeezed too hard. A chair, presumably from Hakuryuu, had been left out next to the bed, ready to be taken up by Aladdin for however long it took.
And so he waited, and waited and waited until Judar would finally wake up, not realizing that it was him that would fall asleep before.
Centuries they’d spent together, side by side, taking on any of the struggles the world threw at them, growing and loving together. Aladdin would not lie. Turmoil, after turmoil had filled both his and Judar’s life over and over again, sending them to the brink and changing them - for better or for worse. There were times where he’d believed that a rift had been torn between them, unmendable and dark in every way, but fate had proven him wrong time and time again.
Only this time, he’d been right.
He’d warned him to not stride too far away from him. This was a battlefield, and while they were both Magi, it didn’t mean they weren’t invincible. Together they could be a force to be reckoned with, eliminating and solving everything that stood in their way but apart? He felt vulnerable, like a piece of himself had been missing and when he spots that familiar body fall from the sky and to the ground, that part breaks. It’s the last breath that gets him the most, that smile of knowing that they’d never be able to see each other again tearing at his soul and ripping him apart. When Judar breaks, Aladdin breaks, and when he dies, so too does Aladdin’s heart. He’d been cold and distant for years, constantly trying to find a way to mend the bond between black and white rukh and bring his lover back to his side, but it’d only served to drive him to madness.
That’s when a voice calls; the familiar tunes of his guardian assuring him and spilling the information of a soul being born: Judar’s soul. Only it’s not of this universe, but one that does not click with the rules in place of his home. He could search, and search but never be able to return if he chose to leave. A heavy thought for a heavy head, and he ponders it for days. The world...didn’t need him anymore, right? Since peace had been found, there had been no use for a peacemaker, let alone a magi with no king to guide. After Alibaba had died, there had been no other to take his place, no attempts to bring another candidacy into his hands so surely...this wouldn’t hurt the foundation of society.
His goodbyes are distant and numbered, having only a few of the people he considers close to his heart still alive, and with their understanding he departs. The flow of universes isn’t something he’s not unfamiliar with. Ugo had taught him all about it after they’d freed the Sacred Palace, and they’d spent hours upon hours roaming and looking.
There would be none of that now. No, he’d been told just where Judar was, and just how to find him, and with that knowledge, Aladdin felt a spark ignite in his chest; a feeling of coming home that he hadn’t felt in years.
The world is strange though, filled with technology vast and superior, their clothing styles so different than what he’s used to that he sticks out like a sore thumb. But there he is, just as he remembers him, standing across the street and looking dumbfounded at the blinding light Aladdin had arrived in. his attire is different, sure, but there is no doubt in his mind that this was Judar. He knows that face as well as his own, knows what makes that heart beat and soar with all the right words. Judar is his home, his love and his life, and he’d finally found him after all this time...
There is no helping the smile from spreading, not the hand that reaches out the moment he crosses the street. It’s meant to test - to see if this was real, if he was real and to feel that feeling of belonging Judar’s palm had given him all those years ago. “...I finally found you...Judar.”
