The lab rat held out a small box, neatly-wrapped with a bow, dainty much like the little lady herself. Inside the Wanderer would find a simple silver pendant: delicate, shaped like a cog, it was as if she'd pried it from a machine itself were it not for the silver. She smiled, quite coyly. "Gate says it will keep you safe. Says that, if you give something to someone you care for very much, those feelings will stay with it - keep you safe even when you are far across the city from me."
“Gate is a smart man, and it’s good that you have taken to speaking with him. I’m glad he could impart that knowledge to you. “ Rover replied, taking the pendant and inspecting it, calloused fingers spinning it around. Its simplicity was its beauty, much like the woman across from him. Rover added the cog to the collection around his neck.
“Thank you, mon chéri. And here, I have a gift for you.” Rover leaned forward and planted a small kiss on his love. “A night by the fire, just you, me, and a few drinks. No deliveries, no doctors, nothing.”
