@dumbjockgirl (continued)
As Catra takes her neck, she looks to her happily as she leans close. She smiles widely, closing her eyes as their foreheads meet. The closeness, the tenderness, makes her feel so warm and soft. Having Catra like this makes Adora’s heart soar. She could stay like this forever, even kissless. And then, their lips meet, as clumsy as ever. She barely knows what she is doing and she knows Catra doesn’t either.
When Catra’s lips drag away and her face slides against her cheek with the soft giggle, Adora giggles as well. “I’ll be a dork for you, then”, she murmurs before they kiss again.
There was no doubt in Catra's mind that something was going to interrupt the two sooner or later. The universe itself always seemed to conspire to keep the two apart, from Catra's perspective. Or... perhaps that wasn't it. Perhaps the problem was much smaller, much more personal, much closer to home.
No. Catra was not about to allow self-doubt to ruin the first moment of true, unadulterated happiness she'd had since the day Adora originally abandoned her. Things were right now, or at least as close to it as possible in that moment. Even though Catra was convinced it couldn't possibly last, this moment was enough to sustain her spirits for now.
"You'll be a dork for me?" Catra scoffed as they broke apart, allowing her lips to linger mere centimeters from Adora's. "Who even says stuff like that? Are you gonna start writing sappy poems next?"
There it was. Catra was back. How long had it been since that confident smirk had graced her features so freely? How long had it been since she teased Adora so innocently, not a hint of malice or pain in her words? Catra herself didn't even know the answer. After all, this was a scene she had experienced so many times before in her fantasies, even as she actively fought against She-Ra. It was commonplace to her, her exhaustion making it even more difficult to remember what did and did not truly happen. At this point, she couldn't bring herself to care.
