" what are you trying to prove? " [ young yelena for rotten-pupper ] ☠ edhellfire answered:
That was the one question that no one had stopped to ask him since this whole thing started. Not since it started, really, but since he started being more proactive instead of hiding. He was arming up, making plans, stealing cars, diving into the Upside Down.
The question caught him off guard. There was silence after it was asked. Silence was a rare commodity when interacting with Eddie.
He stopped what he was doing and looked back at Yelena. "The fuck kind of question is that?"

Yelena ran a shaky hand down her face, then started pacing impatiently beside him, her eyes sharp fixed on his face. She lifted a hand that rested on her hip, finger jabbed in his direction, lips pursed - but she bit back the response she actually had in mind.
"Eddie, you're risking yourself in a way that if anything goes wrong, there is no turning back!" she retorted, her Russian accent a little more pronounced now. "You had a tough life and most people at school hate you, so what?! You don't need to prove anything to anyone, your friends and your uncle love you!"
She halted beside him, her gaze softening a fraction before she raised both hands, hanging awkwardly beside his arm, she just pulled back and closed her eyes for a moment. "Please, just be careful. That is all that I'm asking. This is dangerous, and the consequences can be so... horrible." her voice cracked in the last word, eyes stinging with unshed tears she tried desperately to blink away.
Yelena wasn't popular like the other girls, or as charismatic, but she was deeply protective of her friends - and D&D colleagues. Though Eddie and her never interacted much outside of their RPG sessions, he was someone she could rely on, the only one that didn't pressure her to be something that she was not.
Hellfire was her only home left, and she wasn't going to lose it over some exaggerated act of heroism. That much she knew.
