“ I have yet to actually do anything worthy of the label of hubris today.”
Indeed, it is inevitable. The march of time is a construct of our own making, much like your ability to fall through roof tops.

Anonymous said: [ @determined-magi ] Is that a knock in a way? Yep... well, more like a dog's pawing at a door really. Though where's the door? There's no door anywhere around. " Hey drama boy, hellooo? Miss me? I bet you did~. " The tone is awfully cheery, despite the fox's having witnessed that wreck. " Mind a little moment? I think you could use a little chat, if you're not as busy. "
There’s an unamused look cast the concept’s way. He really doesn’t have the patience nor care to deal with such things right now. He narrows his eyes a little bit more, the fire within them burning with such an intense cold heat that ice burns would feel warm.
“Now’s really not the time for this, Reality. Can I get a rain check to a day where I’ll remember the conversation or are you going to disregard my personal boundaries yet again because it’s important.”
His voice is edged with aggression, stemming from exhaustion both physical and emotional. Mentally─ well, there’s no rest for the wicked.
“...Stop using your magic irresponsibly. You’ll die and it will be a slow painful death at the hands of your own irresponsibility. Please be smart.”

Honestly, the reason he hadn’t interrupted her doting over the bandages wound around his arms and peeking out of the top of his shirt... was because he didn’t cast his muffling spell. And to cast it now would mean her hearing his True Voice, one that would undoubtedly make her stop in her tracks and be temporarily hypnotized. Too many bad memories came with that, and seeing as she’s just a human ─ barely a Mage ─ he wouldn’t want to exacerbate any looming mental fractures.
Even so...
“...Pacifica, I’m fine.” His voice is light and airy, while also having the weight of something that just doesn’t belong in this realm of existence. Something welcoming and loving while remaining fierce and stubborn in the face of the rest of... well, the universe, really. Ethereal and yet piercing, soft and yet coarse. He seems a bit hesitant on how he’s talking and for very good reason. Despite how nice it sounds, she would no doubt hear the faint murmurings of something that should not be chased in the back of her head.

It feels, has felt different in the timeline that Fleur calls HOME.
A hush among crowds, people purposefully keeping away from darkened places. A weight on one’s chest, anxiety and fear given mass. A touch of death amidst so much life, the changing of seasons being the only reliable tell of time passing. A shudder down the spine, passable to the blind as simply the chill of Autumn air but recognizable to wizened as the feeling of something lurking in the shadows. Something lurking, something watching. Something waiting...
Things feel different. And perhaps not in a good way.
Fleur has been seated on the ground of the inlet of Kala’e Bay, staring out into the open and calm ocean. The deep blue waves that hide such terrifying, intriguing horrors of the beautiful waters. The gentle winds of a place that lives up to its name, the softness and the tranquility. Something hard pressed to find in a world that creates so much noise and gives off so much light that it is a beacon... not only for those shipwrecked, but for that of which shipwrecked them. Not only for the damned, but for that of which is damning. The haunted, and the haunting.
Two sides of the same coin. It’s not a matter of existence, it’s a matter of acceptance.
He had invited Madotsuki (and by default, Golden Freddy) here as a means of being able to speak without worry of choking on the truth he wishes so desperately to speak. The truths he’s been terribly denied of, the truth that he tried to deny so the curse would be easier to bear.
Now all that’s left to do is wait.
"....Can you even imagine how this feels like? To scream, and to yell, and to beg for someone to listen, but all they hear is your voice because you sound just like what they need? Can you even imagine, Hazard... how it feels like to be Atlas, to be god, to be everything everyone else wants and needs, when all you wanted was to be yourself? Can you even IMAGINE what it's like to find out you never had a say in the matter? ... No, I guess you can't. After all, most others' strands are far less tangled than mine."

The fallen divine pockets his phone and struggles to keep his eyes open. He needed to inform Ian about his time running short. It’s the first time in a long time that he miscalculated something as precious as time, and it’s biting him in the ass. He knows he’s going to need to see a familiar face when he wakes up with a mild hangover (he’s trying to get drunk as a means of explaining why he can’t remember anything, not drink himself to death) and the inability to recall any of the past week or so. It’ll scare him. It always does. He values his memories more than words could attest for. As someone doomed to be left in the pages of long scorched history books... he knows what it’s like to be FORGOTTEN.
He sighs and looks up at Hermes with a tired smile.
“Hermes? Thank you for keeping me company during this. I don’t know what would have happened if you weren’t there, so... I owe you one. Just take it easy on me when I forget I ever spoke to you. I promise, I wouldn’t forget if I had a choice in the matter.”
He pops open the bottle he asked Lucifer for and sighs. Well, it was nice, at least, while it lasted. At least some people found out what they needed to, including his papa. His voice, his name. It’s important for him to know those things. He’s glad he got to do it this time around. Not to mention letting the detectives and Kaito know the truth, or at least some of it. The rest of it they can learn from him the normal way... sort of. It's good enough for him.
He takes a few more deep breaths and...
Bottoms up.
Fleur’s going to resign himself to laying on one of the chatterboxes while watching Hermes talk on and on about things. He can feel the spell weakening. He can feel the headache coming on, the ever so shortened breaths through a chest being constricted. He’d ask his pal Lucifer later for something strong enough to knock his arse out. For now, he’ll just sit here and listen to another’s voice and not the one trying to worm its way back into his skull.
