If there was panic in his eyes it wasn’t from the people that kept pouring through the door but rather from the snippets of information that were flying around the place while he tended to person upon person. Word like ball and names like Selwyn and Black kept meeting his ears and it was enough to almost drive him to distraction with worry when he knew that was exactly where Andromeda had been. Except he reminded himself that was good at his job and these people needed his help and came to an inner compromise that if he heard no clearer news that he’d end up going to look for her.
So far the only information they’d been given was almost an hour earlier and that had just been to prepare themselves for a flood of victims, no further information shared as to why so many were coming through their doors bloodied, bruised and battered. It was chaotic despite all of their best efforts to keep a system and order to keep panic to a minimum but there were people everywhere, some that needed help and others who were in varying states of distress looking for their friends or loved ones.
Finishing up on the patient he was currently looking after, resetting their arm and telling them to stay put a few hours in one of the rooms that had been set aside, Ted walks through the corridor with his eyes dancing over individuals as he looks for someone who needs his attention. But that looking comes to an end as soon as his gaze lands on a familiar face, the very one he’d been longing to see and his pace picks up to cover the distance between them as quickly as possible. “Dromeda.” Her name is more exhaled than truly spoken, relief leaving him almost speechless when he’d never been a man of words at the best of times. Instead blue eyes travelled over her to check for injuries before he took her hand and headed to an empty room. Only then did he pull her into his arms before pressing a kiss to the top of her head.
“You’re alright.” It was more of a statement than a question, not sure yet how much he wanted to hear about what had happened. For a moment he stays like that, letting the relative silence and quiet of the moment calm his nerves enough until he can pull back and ask the question he’s already dreading the answer to. Taking a breath, Ted brushes his thumb over his wife’s cheek before speaking. “Want to tell me what happened?”
