“ you've done more for me than most people in this world would be willing to… ” even now, meeting at her request poses at least some risk to all the strings he’s pulled to make it so she could disappear quietly and avoid the inevitable trouble killing george’s murder would cause her. it’s one of the many reasons why she always thinks fondly of him on this day — his birthday — and it’s been hard to go years at a time without expressing just how much he, her second father figure, means to her on this day.
“ happy birthday, speedwagon, ” it comes out quietly accompanied by a soft smile, the hard persona she’s had to wear for so long makes it strange whenever she encounters moments where her softer side can show, but the sincerity is clear in her words nonetheless. “ i know you can’t stay for long but… maybe we could have some tea ? i’d love to hear about how you, erina and everyone have been doing. ” joseph especially, but after all these years and the decision she had to make — it’s still hard for her to say.

Kind words are met with a fond smile from the old man. Even now, it's impossible for him to look at Elizabeth and not think of past times. Memories of the young girl, running around along with little George, both of them so happy and carefree, whenever her and Straizo visited. Those times when a younger Robert would always wait for them by the entrance, ready to receive them with a radiant smile. Presents, candies, and, of course, lots of stories and many hours of playing around and spending together throughout their stay would always be part of those visits, with some of the more "childish" aspects to them being replaced over the years as the children grew up and their interests changed. Sour times came years later, though. George's premature departure eventually translated into Lisa being forced to leave her previous life behind. The sole idea had been devastating for everyone, as they had not only lost George, but they were also 'losing' Elizabeth. They knew all this had to be done, of course, but it didn't make things any easier for any of them. Robert immediately used some of his influences to protect Lisa, the woman he had always seen, treated, and loved as if she was his own child, and provided her with a safe haven where she could live in relative peace. Soon after that, the little family was separated, forced to reunite only a few times per year, in absolute secrecy. A secret that, sadly, had to also be kept from Joseph, for his own safety.
"Thank you so much, dear." The old man bows his head a little; he's taken his hat off, holding it softly against his chest. Kind, heartfelt, wishes of that sort are always welcome, especially when they come from someone as dear to him as her.
"I would absolutely love that!" He responds to her request. In all honesty, she just beat him to it. With the visits being reduced to just a few per year, he would always try to make the most out of each and every single one of them. Besides, having some tea and sharing a nice conversation is often times one of the best ways to catch up and have a lovely time. Besides, much like all those years ago, when she would visit the estate, he has a little surprise for Lisa. This time, though, the surprise comes in the shape of a letter along with some drawings. The sender? Little Joseph.
