They’d come across an old piano in an even older house, and as musicians, they simply couldn’t resist trying it out. Dusting off the bench, Alice sat down on it with Brook and they went along the scale, testing all the keys to figure out how out of tune it was, proceeding to avoid them altogether while improvising a little ditty between them.
Smiling at how easily he accompanied her tune, she was having so much fun that it slipped her mind how this situation would have left her quite unsettled otherwise. Then again, her companion was a cheerful singing skeleton himself, so that already put things in perspective.
A strange noise further down the dark hallway had her fingers halting; however. Pulling her hands back, Alice couldn’t help but turn around on the stool and lean in to peek despite her own anxiety rapidly growing.
And that was when the hinge on the lid for the keys decided to give out, falling closed with a loud noise that had her jumping on her seat. Quickly turning back around, she gasped worriedly. “Your hands!” But Brook was quick to wave away the concern with a laugh and a joke about him not having any nerves to feel pain anymore.
She wasn’t familiar enough with his devil fruit powers to say if that was true or not, but even if she was, Alice wouldn’t quite know exactly what to do to help him, which bothered her quite a bit as a doctor. The fact that he was such a talented musician too only made her worry further for his hands, gingerly taking them on hers and looking over them.
It might have been just to dispel her own inability to aid him, but she couldn’t help bringing his hand to her lips and pressing a soft kiss to his talented fingers.
