“Link’s very persistent!” Proxi answers before the Hero can so much as start to write or sign anything. “He doesn’t give up easily on anything! At least, not if it’s important.“

The fairy flutters around the Hylian’s head, before resting on his shoulder. “He’ll do anything– no matter how tough– if it means helping someone else!” She nods to herself, despite her companion looking a bit embarrassed by the praise. “That doesn’t mean he can’t be lazy though–” aaaand now she’s getting shooed off.

For every “⏳” I receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory.

Talking about oneself is easy for some, difficult for others. The hero looks thoughtful, if a little uncertain, before he seems to settle on something. He looks to his fairy companion for help, and Proxi abides.

"Well! Uh! Link comes from a family of knights." She flits around her hylian companion, before landing on his hat. "Apparently he trained for a long time to become a royal guard, and he's pretty excited about the fact he made it."

It seems a little silly in hindsight since he ended up being some chosen hero, but it's apparently something that gives the young man a note of pride all the same.

Ah, what is there to say that you don’t already know? Link ponders for some time. 

The truth is, both of them are simple people, and often what comes to mind is what comes to mouth. 

That’s part of why he gets along so well with you after all. Nothing is ever complicated, which is probably why it’s so hard to think of something that’s gone unsaid. 

Proxi flutters around him, perhaps a bit impatient waiting for an answer. She seems to get something from the hero eventually however.

“Ah, he just, hopes you know how grateful he is to have met you. Even if he’s uh, probably said it before.”

Calcite and pearl for Link? ^^

calcite: my muse’s social tendencies (introverted vs extroverted, parties vs one-on-one conversations, etc.)

Link is actually fairly extroverted, and not at all above being over the top or a total dork around most folks. He does get awkward when he’s having trouble communicating, given he barely speaks, and it’s not that rare for people to misunderstand what he’s trying to get across. Generally though the a big crowd is welcome, and he’s more likely to be sheepish one-on-one, especially if someone knows him but not the other way around. 

pearl: a mental health headcanon

I’ve always liked headcanons about Zelda characters and remembering their past lives in some capacity. While Link doesn’t exactly remember them, he does have some pretty intense nightmares and night terrors having to do with them, which leads to a lot of insomnia.

Volga shoved a poorly wrapped box into his partner's hands with a huff, the dragon's burning glare residing elsewhere. "...Merry Christmas." It would be a polished emerald belt for the hero to strap his beloved Master Sword and Shield than the old leather straps that he'd used before.

“Volga that’s so sweet!” Proxi proclaimed, before squeaking and retreating away behind the hero. Neither of them had really expected the dragon to try and celebrate the odd holiday, but… He’d get a bright smile from Link all the same before the gift was opened. 

“!” There’s a gasp, before the Knight is wrapped in a hug. The Hylian is all smiles, before holding up a hand, requesting his companion wait just a minute.

Jogging off, the green clad hero returned minutes later, a small red box in hand. The packaging was simple– not as haphazard as Volga’s but lacking any bows or ribbons. It’s offered up to to the stubborn looking dragon cheerfully.

LLLLLLINK! How did you and Volga become friends and stuff? Wasn't he evil?

Evil?

There’s a shake of the Hero’s head, the ball of light that is Proxi all but tumbling out of his hat to avoid his denial.

Although, technically, he isn’t wrong. The fairy flutters around before plopping on his shoulder. “Volga wasn’t really “Evil”. Not… exactly?” It’s hard to see a fairy shrug but her town says she’s probably doing it.

“Cia was controlling him for a long time. Apparently from what he said, he had no interest in joining her war. So when we helped him get his free will back, it became an uneasy truce, and from there... well, you know.”
