the tannens and mcflys have a rivalry that goes back, you know, pretty far. we could go way, way back if we count the animated series, but.... i mean, i generally don't. these comics are fair game though.

this is griff tannen, who tried to kill marty with a bat in 2015. (he's also responsible in-part for a chain of events that leads to the world being a post-apocalyptic hellscape by 2045. nbd) anyway-- 20 years later he's a cop and has all this computer shit in his head that's supposed to stop him going on a murderous rampage w a flamethrower but that's obviously not working out...

but it's pretty consistent w the tannens to know a mcfly when they see one. in 1885 buford comments that marty looks like seamus, which nobody else seems to notice. and in the game one of kid tannen's goons (zane maybe? named after billy zane) notices that a photo of george marty has looks a lot like his father arthur.

it is weird though that griff can smell mcflys.
