Now this was interesting.

Finding themself in this strange new city, handed an assortment of items (the cat plush they decided to carry with them for now, it could act as a pillow if need be), and finding their magic well... drained, was one way to put it, wasn’t nearly as interesting anymore now that they’d seen him. In fact the former was actually quite a nuisance that they didn’t want to deal with. But running into Duke Riegan of all people, was of interest.

And something bound to keep them awake.

“Well Claude it sure is a surprise to see you here,”

“It’s been quite some time since I saw you flitting about Garreg Mach up to your schemes, and the war has certainly put as at opposite ends, but I believe we can put that aside for now don’t you think? I have some things I’d like to talk with you about---based on my research and otherwise if you don’t mind.“

"I’d say it’s surprising this is where you ran off to in the war, but I don’t think this was an intentional destination.”

They spoke as they walked up next to the other, peering into the store window Claude was currently in front of. The last time they’d seen the other man was at Derdriu, but they were certain he’d left alive. Which wasn’t something they could say for plenty others that they had encountered during the war. Still, it made it a bit... easier, to approach him and talk.

"Have you been here long?” They continued, turning their head to look at him finally.

“It’s a curious place, isn’t it? So different from back home and so removed from the conflict we all faced. I wonder how they all got us here in the first place as well.”

This was a face from the monastery he surely was never going to forget. Not just because he held a prominent position now out of it, but because even at the monastery Claude was always up to something---sticking his nose where it shouldn’t have been. He’d said nothing as a teacher, but that wasn’t their situation anymore. They were now on opposite sides of conflict back home, and here in this city...

Well here they were both caught in some unfortunate event.

Sighing lightly, he didn’t plan to go and approach the other man, but it looked as though he had been spotted before he could move away. They were going to interact one way or another, and he figured he might as well get it out of the way. Stepping forward, he looked down at the other man, gesturing vaguely to the streets around them.

“Riegan... I presume this wasn’t your doing if you’re here.”
