“Lucy--knock it off!” Harley scowled, bending down to wipe her four year old’s mouth, clearing away the chocolate ice cream before it dried and stained her pale skin. It was difficult to be a single mother, especially when she had no idea where her daughter’s father was now and the fact that he had absolutely no idea he had a daughter. But Lucy was really the light of Harley’s life. The way she lit up after she came dancing in from school could keep Harley running for days. Her smile was brilliant and toothy, and she was absolutely beautiful. With dark hair that Harley could only assume came from her father (pre-chemical dip) and piercing blue eyes, Lucy had her fair share of “boyfriends” in her class.
Her mother had returned to psychology, blackmailing Amanda Waller into restoring her license had been a piece of cake. And it enabled her to properly care for her daughter away from a life of crime. Even if her patients found her excitable and at the very least interesting with her multi-colored hair.
And so, it was a normal day that Harley had taken her daughter to the park. Feed the ducks, play on the playground. What she hadn’t expected was for Lucy to run up to a disfigured man and point.
“Mistah, what’s wong wiff you’we face?” Lucy inquired, cocking her head to the side.
“Lucy! That’s not nice!” Harley scolded, glancing up at the man apologetically. “Sorry, she’s a little joker.” She mused, shrugging her shoulders. Even if she herself was curious about the man’s face, it probably wouldn’t end well for her to ask.
