Drinking buddies
Yukai squinted into the distance, catching a familiar face in the crowd. Is that--holy shit, it is him.
Yukai had only met Xiao Jian once, when the sour-faced cultivator sought shelter at the Wei Sect on his travels. That one time, however, was enough to leave a lasting impression on Yukai. See, Yukai was a naturally curious man, and one day this lone, mysterious cultivator just stumbles in, without a Sect to his name or even a proper family name. Naturally, the more private Xiao Jian was, the more curious Yukai grew--especially towards the man’s past. Now, those flames were re-ignited, seeing how his old pal, supposedly a nameless cultivator, also received an invitation to the attend the Lan Sect lectures.
“Xiao Jian! Holy shit, it IS you!” Yukai exalted as he sauntered over, bright incredulity apparent on his features. “I’ll be damned.” Yukai shook his head, appraising the man with open amazement. “Xiao Jian, ah, Xiao Jian. What have you been up to all this time? You’re such a heart-breaker, you. Ever since you left the Burial mounds, the sisters and aunties back home won’t stop pining after you. I’ve never seen a more collective depressing mood among our ladies since your departure. You should come visit and set their hearts at ease. I’m running out of excuses to give as to why you haven’t returned, you know~” Yukai grinned, teasing relentlessly.
