|Telling Mom|
Duro was surprisingly nervous.
Well, maybe it wasn’t so surprising, not when he really thought about it. He’d had this talk with Agron already, and his brother had...taken it better than he’d expected. Mostly. But now it was time to talk to his mother, and though she’d been supportive about everything else her boys had ever done, there was something about this particular subject that made Duro unsure of himself. It didn’t help that he didn’t have much practice with this conversation. He hadn’t had it very often.
But if he didn’t tell her, Agron would, and Duro knew that it would be better coming from him.
He didn’t bring it up while they ate dinner, instead sticking to safer topics, like his job, and his mom’s hobbies, and ‘oh did you hear about that’ and ‘I saw this picture the other day’. They talked and laughed, and later Duro did the dishes while his mother cleaned the dining room.
It was only when he was finished, and was trying his hands with a kitchen towel that he finally brought it up.
“So,” he moved to lean against the door frame, watching his mom straighten things up around the room, “thought you’d be interested to know. I met someone.”
