i have been thinking about natori lately and kinda shifting my perception of him as The Voice Of Reason in the cat kingdom around. i feel like i've gone too far in a direction with him, i feel like i've thought of his character with the very faint layer of 'practically human' shrouding him, if that makes sense
i think i've been forgetting that it's only in comparison to the cat king that he seems so much more reasonable and competent. he is also still a cat himself, and one who is ostensibly shown to find the cat kindgom and all its Quirks tolerable, if not outright preferable
the key part of this i think i've been overlooking is that for a cat he is responsible and hard-working. comparatively, when stacked up against the company he keeps, he must seem quite sane and relatable to a human trapped in the cat kingdom lmao
but that doesn't necessarily mean by human standards he actually is thinking emoji
after all, as i've brought up in the past, he never catches on to the fact that haru Doesn't Want To Be There, even with her (admittedly vague) prompting in an attempt to lead him and the king to the conclusion
he likes the eternal noontime, the sunshine, the lack of a real schedule thanks to there literally being no way to measure time lmao he likes the chaos of the place, tho he probably doesn't realize he does, bc he's never really known anything different. i think on some inherent level the cat kingdom makes sense to him, and that he does really feel that it's comparable to a human kingdom But Better bc they excised all the Silly Human Things
i'm very amused by the idea of haru trying to appeal to his logical side, if she had some inkling that he seemed more reasonable than a lot of other cats in the kingdom, only to realize 'oh nvm he's just as delusional as the rest of them rip'
