Though his emotions are usually influenced by outside sources, Erinuil’s interpersonal skills leave a lot to be desired. Despite being relatively good on tailoring his speech/conversation depending on who he’s talking to, he expects every one to hate him in some way or another. Unless the relationship is professional (with him ranking higher) then he is deeply troubled by the thought that he isn’t liked.
In intimate relationships, he prefers to be in lust first. He can make rash decisions concerning commitment - which he fears. It takes him a long time to develop a deep connection with some one (even if they’ve already slept together) and until it’s stuck he can be prone to flaking or worry.

CRIES LOUDLY AS SHE SHOULD BE DOING DRAFTS
CRIES EVEN LOUDER WHEN SHE SHOULD ACTUALLY BE STUDYING FOR PSCY HLOL
ari probably introduces eri as ‘Keeper Hahren Erinaninulahal Dad.’
and for dialogue:
Cole’s reflection on their thoughts:
"He thought it would be unfamiliar when he came, but the isolation is just as real. He should be used to it by now."
[Romance] “Demons touch the back of his mind like fingers, a smile through the fear. Belief in the safety of gentle hands and warm bodies.”
Comment(s) on Mages:
[Mages Allied] “I was… surprised you welcomed the mages like that. Even the Dalish have come to fear magic, despite the stories of all elves once having the gift. We— Well, you don’t want to hear me ramble. Anyway, thank you. I know the others may think your decision rash or inappropriate, but every one deserves at least one chance, and as I’ve heard, Circle mages usually don’t get any.”
[Mages Conscripted] “I would have thought the mages would be angry at your decision… Though this must be leagues better than a Circle. Unless… Well, hopefully they won’t stage another rebellion under the Inquisition, anyway. This doesn’t change my standing here, does it?”
Comment(s) on Templars:
[Templars Allied] “I’ve never met a templar, actually. The Keeper told me to watch out for their insignia and to avoid them when possible, but I never knew anything else. Non-mages taking Lyrium? It’s a strange thought, for sure. They won’t turn against us, will they? Us mages, I mean. I’ve heard stories…”
[Templars Disbanded] “It’s kind of strange. I’ve never met a templar, and now they’re all gone. Well, they’re still here, but they’re not… templars, any more. I suppose they can still do the templar things, but they— Sorry, I’m just thinking out loud again. Do you think one of them will tell me about what the Order used to be?”
When looking for something: "I think there’s something here. Should we take a look?"
When finding a campsite: "A camp might look nice here."
When the Inquisitor Falls:
"The herald’s down!"
[Romance] “You better not be dead!”
When they are low on Health: "I could really use some help!"
When they see a Dragon: ”Is that a dragon?! Sh-should we fight it?”
When during their small side quest:
“[gasps] Ooh, look at this... Ma serannas!”
“This is lovely, thank you.”
Default saying:
[Neutral] “Is there something you wanted to talk about?”
[Low Approval] “Inquisitor/Herald?”
[High Approval] “Anything I can help with, lethallin?”
Travel Banter with Canon Companions of your choice:
Erinuil: Ma serannas, Sera. I’m still not used to fighting so much. Your arrows may cut a little close, but you saved my… life back there. Sera: Maker, could you be any more elfy? Erinuil: Oh, sorry. I, ah, would have said the same thing to a shem— a human. Sera: Whatever, just keep your weird face shite and fancy magic away from me and we’re fine. Erinuil: Right. Still. Thank you. Ah— Sera: Oh, just shove it, numbnuts.
Erinuil: Iron Bull, if I understand correctly… Recruits to the Qun are viddathari. Iron Bull: Ignoring your pronunciation, yeah. Erinuil: I’ve heard stories of some of the People becoming viddathari to escape slavery or unjust punishments. Iron Bull: You mean elves? It’s pretty common. Slaves are used to purpose, and joining under the Qun gives them the opportunity to go somewhere. Viddathari get protection under it, so grumpy magisters can’t come back for their lost slaves. Erinuil: Yes, exactly. I just wanted to thank you. There’s so many bad ways to be born as an elf, and the Qun can help them where the Dalish cannot. Iron Bull: You shouldn’t be thanking me, really.
Erinuil: Why are you so averse to elven culture? Sera: Look, talking about it isn’t going to make me like it better. Erinuil: I know, I’m just asking for curiosity’s sake. You don’t have to answer. Sera: Well good. Cause I’m not. Erinuil: I’ll be here if you change your mind.
Cole: The first real connection. Heated breaths and hot hands, hair, bright eyes in the dark. The Keeper will know, she always does, but there is the now that makes it worth whatever words she’ll use. Erinuil: Cole, that particular memory is rather personal and… Cole: She didn’t think you would be so upset. She was worried for you, because she has seen how spirits can hurt. Erinuil: Thank you, Cole. Ma melava halani. Cole: You are stronger now. You have nothing to worry about. Erinuil: [chuckles] Yes. ’Dirthara-ma’, I think I said. Cole: And you did.
Dorian: Erinuil, it has come to my attention that you don’t wear shoes. Erinuil: Of course not. It’s a shem thing. Dorian: Why? Don’t elves step on pebbles too? Stub their toes? Accidentally traipse through a disgustingly muddy puddle? Erinuil: As much as any one else, I suppose. Dorian: And yet you choose to live each dreadful experience vicariously. Erinuil: Well, think of it this way. When we’re perfectly content with no shemlen around to antagonize us and our sense of fashion, we still need something to complain about.
Friendship?: ”Oh, lethallin, I had something I wanted to tell you. You don’t mind my calling you lethallin, do you? I know that— Well, anyway, I wanted to thank you for… everything. I merely came here to assist with the Breach—some thing that threatened all of Thedas, and you’ve been so accommodating. Ma serannas. If there is anything you need of me, you just need to ask.”
Leaving the Inquisition: [Like Dorian, he won’t actually leave unless asked or punched] “I’ve seen that you don’t like me, and you don’t have to, but if you’ve wanted me to leave you should have just asked. At this point, I’m only here to end this chaos… Who knew it could be such a nightmare? Just let me make this clear, shemlen[seth’lin if Inquisitor is an elf], I don’t like you, and I do not have to like you, but I am remaining until this issue is solved.”
reposting these inquisitor-as-a-companion things i did to act as canons
Race, Class, & Specialization: Elven mage spec: Knight Enchanter
Varric’s Nickname for them: Fluffy
Default Tarot Card: Hands, clutched around his staff which is held firmly to his chest. It only shows his vallaslin and not any distinctive facial features.
How they are recruited: Appears in the Hinterlands after the Watchtowers Operation has been completed, outside of Dennet’s farm. As the inquisitor passes, he shouts out “Pardon me, are you the Herald/Inquisitor people keep talking about?” Talking to him initiates a small conversation in which he asks if he could watch them seal a rift. He becomes a temporary companion for that and after (unless all rifts are sealed, then he will just) ask to join the inquisition.
Where they are in Skyhold: In the Courtyard.
Things they Generally Approve of: Pro-mages, the inquisitor asking about himself or elves in general, whatever helps the inquisition grow or expand
Things they Generally Disapprove of: Aggressive comments, harsh/seemingly pointless decisions, negative views towards practically anything that isn’t inherently bad
Mages, Templars, Other?: Definitely pro-mage, but curious about templars. Doesn’t necessarily hate them, but he is wary.
Friends in the Inquisition: Solas, Dorian, and Varric
Romanceable?: Hell yeah. Male only, oops. Females flirting with him will be met with awkward replies and eventually a shy rejection.
Small side mission: Procs if he’s in the party for a specific location. After searching the area, finding something will net a short dialogue in which he explains you’ve found a Dalish trinket, and if you find more to please give them to him. There’s only like 3 others to find.
Companion quest:
Procs only if he’s been asked about his clan and Skyhold has been reached. A cutscene shows him arguing with another Dalish elf in front of the main gate, Inquisitor interrupts, and Erinuil explains that it’s his sister come to take him back to the clan. He says he doesn’t want to go, but the Keeper is insistent, and suggests the Inquisitor go meet the clan with him so that they can convince the Keeper that this is worth while.
Option 1: The inquisitor can convince Erinuil to stay with his clan because he’s obviously needed, and therefore he leaves the Inquisition forever, reluctantly. Unlocks a War Table Operation in which he requests help to deal with Venatori/Red Templars
Option 2: The inquisitor can convince the Keeper to let Erinuil continue working with the inquisition.
*You can still keep him as a companion but lose approval
Romance quest:
Erinuil asks the inquisitor if they could go out and get a few specific herbs for him if it wouldn’t be so much trouble, because some of them don’t grow in the Courtyard and he’s had trouble finding them so far. Once obtained, it triggers a cutscene in which a very frustrated elf is sitting in a circle surrounded by them, but gets frustrated and blows them away from him with magic. When asked, he admits he wanted to make them something special to show how fond he was of them, but he’s so clumsy with his hands.
The inquisitor can tell him that he’s dangerous because of his little magical thing (ends relationship) or that he’s pathetic for not being able to do what other elves can (also ends relationship) or they can listen to him blabber on about himself until he kisses their cheek and resolves to clean up his mess.
Tarot card change
Companion quest completed: if he leaves, his default gets greyed out. if he stays it’s of him stretching against a huge tree
Romance: something like this
What is like Lahar could walk around the earth like a ghost sometimes and on the first day he could do it he went to find Doranbolt and see how he was doing but couldnt find him and then when he did doranbolt was at Lahar's grave trying not to cry and he confesses to Lahar's grave and then Lahar starts crying and tried to hug doranbolt but cant because he's a ghost so he just confesses back but its on death ears because he can be heard either and Doranbolt then just walks away mumbling "not that you'd ever would have seen me like that" because he thinking lahar doesn't like him like that and then lahars just breaks
