They have each others backs and between his fists, and her blades, they're a force to be reckoned with in battle. Lore:

Ryce Aldynn was once Arasen of the Hotgo, a nomadic tribe of the Azim Steppe who harbored a love for technological advancement. That was, until they were hunted and attacked by the Dotharl. Very few survived, on account of not being present. Arasen managed to escape with his wounded sister, who didn't last through the night.

Mourning the loss of his family and friends, he traveled through Hingashi, and eventually made it to Kugane. He stayed until his 20th summer with an elderly couple who had lost their son some few years ago to the Empire. He remained with them until they both passed, and then sailed to Eorzea, where he made a home in Ul'dah.

Ryce is well known among the people of the Pugilists Guild, and has climbed his way through the ranks of the Immortal Flames. Additionally, he is recognized as a Scion of the Seventh Dawn, and stays up to date with worldly events through these connections.
