THE NICATOR DYNASTY

You know what's really fucking ironic?

So Renatus is based on Augustus, right? The phase of the Roman Empire that Augustus founds is called the principate, which is noted for its attempts to maintain the illusion of Republican tradition.

Ren does not do this. He's an imperial through and through. He does not bother with the illusion. He's the emperor and damn well acts like it; and this maintains itself throughout the rest of the Nicator Dynasty. Effectively, he models the dominate, the phase of the Roman Empire in which the rulers were openly monarchical.

What I think I'm gonna do for the next dynasty... is reverse this trend. Have the rulers try to give that illusion of Republican tradition once more. I've done a switcheroo.

I'm just trying to figure out what the hell I'm going to do for the next dynasty, because that's who's going to be in charge during my space verse.

I think, what I also want to do... Is take the process of succession "back to basics", so to speak. See, for the Nicator Dynasty... The intention was NOT to actually be a hereditary monarchy.

Now let me explain.

Renatus' intention when choosing his successor was to choose the one best suited for the job. That person just happened to be Lexa, his daughter. But in the process, he effectively established the precedent from choosing the successor from family. Which gradually grew into a standard hereditary sort of succession.

For the new dynasty, I'm bringing it back to basics. Meritocratic succession, like Ren originally intended... Which is going to be particularly relevant, because the reason that the Nicator Dynasty even ends is because the entire main imperial line is wiped out towards the end.

The only one left alive is Victoria and [REDACTED]. Victoria, who at the time is in her 60s and way past menopause. No more kids for her. When she eventually dies, it triggers a succession crisis because no one has any fucking idea who's going to succeed her. Thus the goal of the new dynasty that replaces the old is to cement the method of succession in a way that would prevent such a crisis in the future.

Victoria, of course, knows this is coming and is going to attempt to alleviate this crisis... But as for how successful she is...? Well, we'll see. I haven't gotten that far.

💟 What is their stance on PDA?

In her youth, Victoria was a consummate professional. Such acts belonged only in complete privacy. She wouldn’t even let anyone hold her hand in public. She mellowed out some as she grew older and older, but not that much. The most you’ll get out of her in public is a quick peck.

Liane and Ren, on the other hand, are dirty whores. They will be affectionate as fuck, anytime, anywhere. Ren, at the very least, has the decency to try and be subtle about it. Liane just doesn’t give the slightest fuck. She would, and will, fuck you in public if she wants. Let everyone watch.

All things considered, Victoria actually most resembles Fire Lord Izumi...

But Izumi has only one line in the entire show and is basically just a glorified cameo. Can’t get any icons from her.
