Raven's head was reeling; feeling herself almost suffocating by the amount of information she had gained. What had she done? Why did she think it would be a smart idea to open the Great Door of the Temple? Her nightmares had become more frequent, they had seemed almost prophetic. It wasn’t until know that she realized that’s what they were – prophecies of her destiny. Throughout her whole life, she had been yearning answers from her father, needing to understand his side of the story. After the meeting, she could confirm that it wasn’t what her heart had desired to hear. Even though he was gone now, the sense of his power flooding in her veins was still traceable. Fingers were digging into locks of dark hair as she paced back and forth, her anxiety building up. She wanted to scream, to cry, but she couldn’t allow herself to do that.
Her breathing heaved, holding onto the wall for something to support herself with – she felt weaker than she ever had been. Or maybe it was the power coursing through her that caused the dizziness. This was what her whole life had lead up to – becoming a portal for a demon? He would have to coerce her to join him, if that was the case. She didn’t want to be a pawn in his plans, used to conquer planets and dimensions. There must be more to life than this, she hoped. Thinking of his next destination. Earth. It was going to be Earth. Raven only knew about the planet from the literature she was offered from her teachers, which wasn’t much. However, a particular thing had come to her attention when reading. It was a peaceful planet, refraining from galactic wars. During her reading, she had also noted that they were weak. They wouldn’t stand a chance against Trigon, unlike her.
Looking down at her hands, she spotted the red marks she had received after her confrontation with Trigon. Maybe the humans wouldn’t be able to stop Trigon, but with her help – they might would stand a chance. Raven couldn’t do it on her own. As much strength as she had, it was Trigon who was in possession of the energy flowing in her body. He could take over her whole being if she lost control, meaning that her inner demon would come up to the surface.
Glancing around inside the temple, looking up at the statue of Azar – Raven knew of what she must do. There wasn’t any other way. Closing her eyes, she reached out into thin air, murmuring to herself. “Azarath, Metrion, Zinthos.” When opening her eyes, Raven spotted a dark portal opening before her. As much as she loved her home, she knew she couldn’t stay. If she were to save Azarath and the planet Earth, it would be time to say her goodbyes. Taking a deep breath, she took a leap of faith – entering the portal. Fleeing from the only place she had ever known as home.
