Golden Sun: Dark Dawn - Battle! [Fight of Sons]

Happy anniversary Golden Sun Dark Dawn. (You're 15 now, let's not think too hard about it.) To celebrate, I did a drawing of a few of my favorite characters for the anniversary. TBH I keep fluctuate on who my third favorite Dark Dawn character, but Rief gets a lot of flack, just for not being his sister, so I figured he deserved the break.

TBH, I wasn't sure if I would have time to do anything for it. But by some corporate miracle there was a day I literally had nothing else I was able to do but make a sketch. So, I figured that was a sign to turn that sketch into a full drawing. Oh boy, did I get way more than I bargained for with this one.

I'm not sure if its all the details in their outfits or just everything else going on these past couple months making it seem otherwise, but dang the time between sketch and colored drawing felt like it took forever on this one. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the most time I put into a drawing all year, well outside some of the pieces I'm working on to use in my indie game.

Felt like I spent forever just leaning up messy lines and yet I'm still not fully satisfied.

I'm pretty happy with how the background came out at the very least. It was something I just threw together last minute using a random screenshot from the game to make it. But I did a bit of brush experimentation. Letting me pull off that nifty effect for the sky and making ground that was at least slightly more interesting than the general blob of green that I normally do for these sorts of things.
