Re: your blog title, do you ever just out of nowhere start thinking about touchy feely and all of a sudden want 2 die. but like. in a good way? ever since she passed ive been thinking about that one the most of all. the contrast of forms of healing between the touchless reiki and the way that abby and adrian mend their break through contact. the way it’s healer heal thyself with abby and paul. Idk man. I keep coming back to it over and over again now.
i started typing an answer for you, but decided midway to rewatch TOUCHY FEELY, so thank you for that and sorry for the late answer, anon
tbh all of lynn’s films make me want to die in a good way because they just Get it™ for me like very few filmmakers have and this film was no exception. these two characters, their bond, their lives, their parallels, their crises, my god, lynn knew what she was doing, she just KNEW
one scene that struck me this time is the scene where paul and abby look at their hands and he’s happy because his newfound gift is helping others while she’s tearing up because she can no longer bring herself to help and she’s disconnected from her boyfriend. the way they are shown, the parallel between these two siblings going through their own crises, i mean, it’s just perfect. it’s a perfect scene. i liked it four years ago, but i loved it now
and yeah, i do like that it’s ‘healer heal thyself’ because it shows how both abby and paul heal themselves on their own and how connected they are (she reconnected with adrian and touches him before going back to her boyfriend; he’s shown out dancing and then going to bronwyn’s house; the siblings have a silent reunion at the end), it’s just so beautiful and right (that adrian/abby touching moment tho ;______;)
literally, the thought that we’ll never get another film of hers still breaks my heart. i’m glad i can rewatch her stuff and discover new things and fall in love more and more, but her talent and empathy were one of a kind, it’s just a tragedy
