Ah shit. She knew the second she felt her hand collide with something hard it'd probably cause a problem. The guy sounded irate, and from the slam of hands to the accusation thrown her way, Kareena's own instinctive urge to bite back at a rude tone rose up within her.

But she had to be honest, she'd be acting pretty pissed too if someone apparently smacked her on the head. That thought was the only thing that smoothed out the furrow of discontent that sat between her brows, if only slightly.

"I hit you? Yeah, that's my bad, I'm sorry about that. Some asshole thought he'd try to take advantage of the commotion, started getting a little too close for comfort. I was reeling back getting ready to smack the shit out of him when..." She trailed off, a hand gesturing in the direction of the stranger himself. She frowned. "Seems like he got away while I was distracted." Well, she gave her apologies and her explanation. If the man decided to continue acting angry, well, she'd just take her frustration out on him then.

He always did that, tried to brush off the topic when it turned to his brother. Kareena grit her teeth. He always did it but he couldn’t keep doing it. Not if she had anything to say about it. She knew she got lucky with her brothers and her getting along as well as they did, and that not everyone had that, but Luca was right there wanting to fix things! “No, I’m not leaving,” Kareena seethed, a palm sharply smacking onto the counter. “Not until you actually listen to me and stop brushing off what I say!” 

Her eyes sharpened, the blue of them deadly, and she continued, “I’m not going to pretend like I know what you two have gone through growing up, I know that’s shit I can’t possibly hope to get. But Luca isn’t just acting out of guilt! He genuinely cares for you and wants a relationship with you!” She took a step forward, fire snapping in her eyes, “You wanna know why we’re so ‘buddy buddy’? I didn’t like him at first, I thought he was some smarmy prick! But you wanna know what changed my opinion on him? Seeing how much he worried and cared for you! I’m not asking you to forget the past like it never happened but I want you to at least sit down and actually talk to your brother dammit!”

“Why?!” Kareena seethed and crossed her arms, eyes snapping furiously. “He’s nice and I enjoy spending time with him. You can’t tell me who I can and can’t hang out with!” Really, what was his problem? She knew things were tense between the brothers but did it really warrant a reaction like that from Kieran?

“Kieran!” An even louder ear-piercing shriek left her. It was a good thing all that was nearby was the closed for the night flower shop he worked at or else she knew they would be getting noise complaints from the screaming she was doing. Kareena struggled more even as his weight settled on top of her but there was no leverage and little she could do to shake him from the position that she was in. When he finally pulled off of her, the elf lay in place for a moment before she burst into action.

Scrambling to her feet, cheeks flushed from the struggle although she wasn’t out of breath, her voice had a mix of laughter and surprise in it as she yelled after the fleeing male, “What the hell?” Long black hair whipping around her, she skidded to a halt with a hand braced against a doorway to listen for where his laughter was coming from. There. And with his location in mind the girl took off after him, storming expertly through rooms that she knew like the back of her own hand. Just wait until she caught up with him. “Where do you even think you’re running to?!”

She hadn’t expected to get caught in the pouring rain the way she did and as much as the feeling of raindrops against her skin was soothing, the uncomfortable way it made her clothes soggily cling to her was definitely less pleasant. She could hear Kieran moving around as she slowly felt her way around and familiarized herself with the room. It sounded like it was small but she guessed that was to be expected with how last second it was. Kieran’s voice continued on, Kareena half-listening to it until something caught her attention. 

She’d made her way around the room once, and she then moved through it a second time but the results were the same as the first. “Kieran,” she called out as she heard some small shuffle of fabric. Dread coiled in her gut and she was almost afraid to ask but still...”Where’s the other bed...?”

Her fingers drummed restlessly against the table while she heard Scarlett moving around. She’d say she didn’t know why she had come here but that much at least was obvious to her, Besides the good food, Scarlett knew Kieran. She could be a calming force for whatever mess was going on in her own head at the moment. If that was even possible. Dammit, she ran out of his place like it caught on fire and on top of that then told him to keep away? What was she thinking?! No, dammit dammit dammit, that was the thing. She hadn’t been thinking.

When Scarlett returned, Kareena’s lips parted to speak but no words came out. She didn’t even know where or how to start, or even what she wanted to say. So instead they closed, fingers seeking out the plate that she had heard scraping across the table. The scent of cheese, citrus, and fruit reached her nose and she brushed a distracted finger on the outer edge of the plate once she found it. “What are these?” were the words that finally broke her silence. Not at all meant to delay the inevitable. Not at all.

Kareena obeyed his instructions, lips parting to allow Kieran bring whatever it was that he had to her mouth. Hearing him draw closer, the smell of something delicious wafted closer, and a wooden spoon brushed against her lips. A warm type of sauce met her tongue and Kareena paused to take in the flavor. The taste of tomatoes greeted her, was it pasta sauce? Even if it wasn’t, it tasted amazing. “Mmm”, Kareena let out a blissful hum, her tongue peeking out to swipe away any sauce that had fallen on her lips.

When Kieran asked her opinion, Kareena stopped in pretend thought with a few sagely nods thrown in. After an extended period of silence, she finally spoke up, mischief gleaming in her eyes. “I don’t know, I think I’ll need another taste.” An impish grin broke out on her face and she leaned towards him, “I mean, a professional opinion from me needs at least two tastes. Sometimes more. We’ll see.” With that, her lips parted expectantly again and she jokingly stuck her tongue out at him, legs swinging idly from her spot on the counter.
