> “I was single for ninety years because you’re all insufferable and I don’t want any of you in my house.”
that white-haired captain-san.
"How does the saying go? You can't build a home without piling together a few bricks? Perhaps we are not friends now Starrk-san, but you never know what the future holds!"
he just stared at the captain as the words came flying out his mouth in that overly smiley and sing song manner of his. and he was just not having it. ‘ sounds like menos crap. and a bucket load of it too. ‘

The woman shook her head as she shoved her hands further into her coat pockets. She was fortunate enough to have dressed warm for a cold out, she felt absolute pity for Shin however, she knew he lived out in the woods mostly, and he was constantly exposed to all elements 24/7. “I’m content, but I can tell you’re not. You wanna stay the night at my flat? I have heating and extra blankets. I don’t want you out here freezing to death.” She didn’t mind offering the man a place to stay, he had done it for her many times. She had since fount a place to rent out that was rather quaint and homey. It had taken some time but she offered her landlord free protection for a lesser fee for her services. “You’ve offered me your hospitality when I was less than worthy, it’s the least I can do.”
Times were quieter, and with such a sudden long term wave of peace, one would expect it to be welcomed with open arms. That hadn’t been the case. Sure there was a hearty enough amount of jobs to go around, but they were small, and simple missions, ones which brought you back before sun down.
A lot of the others had coped with this peace, but having all those extra hours does cause the mind to wander, not to mention, anxiousness to set in. To top it all off it had been miserable all day in the form of weather, causing moods to sway this way and that.
She however, was not deterred. Marching into the Guild hall, she rested her hands upon her hips, and cleared her throat. Honey coloured orbs shot around, gazing at the various few lingering about. “Come now, are you really going to allow something as simple as the weather keep you inside all day?” Her tone was brought forth confidently, and strong, almost demanding.
“I’d expect more from the members of Fairy Tail! Surely there is something exciting happening around here, if not let’s make it so. I will not stand idly by while everyone lazes around like bumps on a log.” Posing with arm bent at the elbow, and hand formed into a fist just in front of her face as if claiming victory. Her words silenced by the soft whispers and coughs that shrouded the innards of the guild hall.

It’d been a long day, and it wasn’t just because they were getting ready to take down the Saviors, either. There was a lot of prep work, a lot of things that they needed to get right and if it got screwed up - it’d be very dangerous for them. The nights seemed much more peaceful, relaxing. Paul was back and forth between Hilltop and Alexandria most days - days when he was needed.
But tonight was special because it was finally a night where it was calm and peaceful- as peaceful as it could be for them. Paul took Daryl’s hand without hesitation and held onto it for a minute. He smiled sweetly at his lover. “It was a good day,” Jesus then got up and started clearing off Daryl’s kitchen table from the dinner dishes.
Daryl immediately followed suit, picking up this and that and trying to easily toss them into the sink without breaking anything from their his dishes. That felt wrong to say, his dishes, it was there’s in his mind, this was just as much Paul’s home as it was Daryl’s. It wouldn’t be Daryl’s home without Paul being here.
“I can take care of this,” Daryl said, coming up from behind Paul and nuzzling his head into his shoulder. His next words were mumbled, “You go shower or somethin’ and rest.”

{ @eldestamicitiason } u asked 4 it bro
“Gladdy!”
While her voice sounds muddled to her own ears, a memory of how she thinks she sounded when she was smaller echoes back in her mind instead.
“Yeah, kiddo?” Her brother’s voice, younger, carefree, echoes back in response. His laughter reverberates clearly, and more and more fragments of a childhood memory piece themselves together, slowly but surely, until Iris drowns in overwhelming nostalgia.
“You’re gonna be as strong as Papa, right?” her younger self was hoisted up into the air by strong arms. Iris remembers them being blank, still lacking the intricate and intimidating marks of inky bird feathers.
“Of course! I’ll be just as strong as Dad, you know.” Gladio had grinned at her then, huffing a laugh as he playfully tossed his small sibling up into the air once, twice. When he caught her again he only brought her up to touch his forehead with her.
Iris had to catch her breath, waited until her giggles had stopped before replying in awe, “And then I get to be a Shield soon, too?” And still she laughed when she saw her brother cross-eyed while she attempted to make their noses touch.
“Nope!” This sent a little palm to lightly smack Gladio’s nose.
“Why nooooot?”
“You can’t be the Shield while I’m still the Shield. It’s my job.”
“But I wanna be a Shield, too!! I wanna be strong like Papa! Like you!!”
“Dad and I don’t want you to worry about that for now, Little Flower. I’ll be your Shield for a looong time, okay?”
“Gladdyyyy–”
“I promise I’ll protect you, always.”
“But Gladdy!”
“Gladdy–!”
“Gladiolus!”
Iris wails until her throat is raw and her lungs ache.
“You promised!”
Her forehead rests against her brother’s– loose strands of his hair sticking to it, drenched in her tears and smears of crimson. Little sister cradles his head in shaky arms, and she knows he can’t hear her anymore but she howls at him to keep his promise, to be strong, to keep being the Shield, to keep protecting her.
She isn’t ready to bear the title in his place just yet. She isn’t ready to lose him.
