Greetings. This is Near. It has been quite some time since I last surveyed this database, but regardless, here I am.
I understand that this may shock you. Some of you, especially potential criminals, may not have been anticipating my return. Maybe you believed I was dead. Killed by Kira, perhaps? But no. I am very much alive, and Kira has been apprehended, as I am certain you are all aware.
Perhaps my return is the reason a crime will not happen today. Or perhaps it will be the urge a criminal needs to make a move and challenge me. But I assure you that my time away from the Taskforce has not been in vain. I am a thousand times more capable of apprehending those who rise against me.
So step up, take your turn. I dare YOU to challenge ME. I will see your failure through until the end.
