‘You want a what?’ (Rick x Lucille)
Send ‘You want a what?’ for my muse’s reaction
"I fuckin' know, right?" Lucille sighed. As shocked by her own words as Rick seemed to be. "I caught myself off guard."
Her glance went over to the baby monitor, where Judith was moving around in her sleep, having turned on her belly and seemingly trying to crawl. She'd freaked out the first time she'd seen her do that, her only knowledge of babies being the "don't let them turn in their sleep" scary stories that everyone without kids seemed to have drilled in their brains, until Carl and Rick had convinced her Judith was fine. Now she thought it was adorable.
She looked back to Rick. "I've never wanted a baby before," Lucille confessed. "I mean, I wanted kids. Negan didn't. So I guess I just convinced myself that I wouldn't be able to handle a baby anyway. The terrible twos and all that shit. I've always gotten along better with teenagers anyway so it wasn't somethin' I dwelled on. But Judith is... she's fuckin' amazing, I love her, even when she's being a– well, a baby."
Usually when she talked about something this much to someone else, it was to talk herself out of it. But Lucille felt like she was just digging herself a deeper hole. She didn't mind; however, the little smile on Rick's face wouldn't have helped convince her of not wanting a baby anyway.
"I don't know if that smile means you agree or you're about to make fun of me."
Now Rick looked a little hurt. "When have I made fun of you?"
"Hey, I used to be married a man-child," she pointed out, lifting her hands. "Be patient with me."
"I think it's sweet– what you're saying, I mean."
"Not Negan?"
"Definitely not Negan," he snorted.
Rick leaned forward, pressing a kiss to Lucille's lips that she leaned into. A tension she didn't know she'd been carrying abandoned her shoulders.
"Maybe when Judith is a little older and doesn't need her crib anymore."
Lucille hummed. "That sounds good to me." a mischievous grin pulled at her lips. "But that doesn't mean we can't start practicin' how we're gonna make the baby now, before the kids wake up, does it?"
