Saturday nights are for dancing.
Urb4n sets up in the same place every time, at the same time of night, and goes for the same five hours every week. Some dancing mats make up their stage, with speakers and spotlights hooked up to a generator - and some nights even feature a screen with their crew’s logo and social media, just for a bit of extra advertising.
Tonight, the screen is present and is instead being used to add a bit more fun and flare to the ongoing cypher. It’s an open night, but that doesn’t mean they’re against grabbing a name of any passerby who decides to join in (Dokkaebi’s idea). Something to help drum up a bit more exciting in their ever present audiences.
It’s Soleil’s lead, tonight.
The twins had reclaimed their spot at the top the previous week; proved why they’re the leaders of the crew and knocked Revenant back down a few pegs. Oberon is in his ever supportive spot at one corner of the mats, always ready to jump in to support his twin should more than one bystander decide to join in.
But, right now, it’s Soleil’s stage alone, and the lights paint them in warm yellows and oranges as they move. Dressed head to toe in black as they ever are (the only visible skin around their eyes between the brim of their cap and the top of their face mask, and the only colour in the crew’s emblem emblazoned on the back of their jacket with ‘SOLEIL’ embroidered above it), their movements focus on their own individual choreography.
Short, sharp, quick steps paired with controlled, almost mechanical-like arms. The song is familiar, instrumental and upbeat, and they know the one minute mark almost perfectly.
And when they’re done, ending on a freeze, they wait for a moment; challenging someone to step forward.

Soleil is the sun, and Oberon is the moon, and neither have ever enjoyed the blinding presence of the star that is the Nova Entertainment building. It’s not like either of them can do anything about it, given that the building has been there longer than they’ve been living in South Korea, and Hongdae is the ideal place to host their weekly cyphers and street performances, and their dance studio, as well.
It doesn’t stop Soleil from casting a frown at the building from behind their mask when they pay a visit to their regular coffee shop. It’s an expression that barely shows hidden beneath the brim of their cap, and it lingers for only a second before it’s gone. They don’t care quite that much (Daeryong’s the one who's more passionate about his displeasure).
They simply want coffee. Maybe a snack. Something to get them through the long night ahead of them with preparing for the next regional.
It’s only when they reach the store that they realise they’ve got their times wrong. The store is already closed, darkened with the lights off. The real cause at fault is exhaustion from their trip to China with their brother.
Soleil turns their eyes towards the Nova Entertainment building, instead, and scowls at its blinding lights as if the building itself is at fault for their missing out on coffee.

Separating their daily lives from their dancing lives has been an unspoken rule in the dance crew for years, but it’s always been impossible to make it something permanent and clean-cut. So when one of their number announces that he’s engaged (and none of them had expected their maknae Puck to be the first), the other six immediately put their heads together to plan something big.
Somehow, Soleil ends up with the shortest straw possible. If it were simply to organise music, it would have been fine, but Dokkaebi suggests live music, and everyone agrees, and it’s how they find themself seeking out a face younger than their own based on a recommendation from the girls in B4SE. An organised meeting, almost business-like in its nature.
It’s the only reason Sol removes their cap and face mask when they arrive to the coffee shop, one hand gently combing fingers through dark strands to get them to lie neatly. There’s a moment of looking around before their eyes land on a vaguely familiar face, and they begin to make their way closer.
“Yoo Kihyun?” They ask once they’re within earshot, lowering their hand. The syllables form slow (they’ve been speaking in Mandarin all day so far and the switch back to Korean takes focus and thought). “I apologise... if I kept you... waiting long.”

For most aspects of their life, Soleil does little with their access to the family’s money outside of the daily comforts of living. Their life is focused on dance, with a side of school, and there’s not a lot that can distract them. Except, perhaps, the occasional urge for a bit of retail therapy, either to bury the feelings of a Bad day or because of something a little more material.
Today is one of the latter. A new line being released at one of their favourite clothing stores, with a jacket they have been eyeing since they first saw it in a photo spread. A women’s line of clothing, but that matters little to the dancer. It’s the cut that they like, and, if it doesn’t fit perfectly, they know a talented tailor. Of course, their tastes usually run a little more expensive (a little more custom-made), but that doesn’t mean they’re ever above wearing something a bit more mass produced.
They’re later than they had planned to be, held up by class and then by a meeting at the firm with their father and their mentor, and it’s late afternoon by the time they finally get a chance to venture to the store. Soleil knows exactly where they can find the new line, the new jacket, and they make a beeline for the rack the moment they enter the store.
They’re thankful for the face mask covering their mouth to hide the scowl that distorts their expression at the sight of another hand reaching for the same jacket.

Hongdae is a collection of talent and expression. It’s a great source of inspiration, as well, so when Soleil finds themself struggling with piecing together choreography for the next set of regional dance competitions, they step out of the URB4N dance studios and out onto the streets. Their hands come to find a home in the pockets of their jacket (unashamedly emblazoned with their crew name on the sleeves and the logo on the back beneath their stage name), and they simply let their feet carrying them along the sidewalks with no real goal.
They only stop when they come across a solo busker. There’s no music, no microphone, only the performer’s natural voice and a smooth flow as they rap. It’s not something that Soleil is particularly well-versed in. They don’t understand what makes a good rapper or a bad one. The only measure they have is whether whatever the performance is holds their attention or not.
And this one does, so they settle in to watch for a little while, at least. A hand emerges to adjust the way their face mask sits, and their eyes wander a little. Only a couple other people who have stopped to listen, one far younger than Sol ever expects to see around Hongdae. Their eyes linger for a moment before returning to watch the rapper, instead.

Soleil is not and has never been a coffee snob.
Caffeine is caffeine, whether it’s the deepest, thickest syrup of a sand-boiled Turkish coffee, or drowned beneath all sorts of flavoured sugars and milks and creams. Whatever coffee they opt for comes down to whatever mood they’re in at the time and, more importantly, what is most accessible. Very rarely will they ever venture too far out of their own way just for a coffee.
So when the urge for a drink hits (something cool and bitter) and the only thing nearby is a Starbucks, Sol simply accepts it as a sign that this is their only option. They aren’t nearly as familiar with the menu in Korean Starbucks, usually leaving their drink orders to Daeryong when their brother ventured out for their drinks instead.
It means that when they enter the cafe, they spend a few moments lingering by the front door to simply look the menu over (and most of that time is spent simply working their mind around the letters, hangul still something that takes them time to process). Decision made, they finally approach the counter, one hand already reaching into a pocket for their wallet.
“Blonde vanilla latte,” they request, never making a move to lower the face mask. “Iced. Mocha drizzle.” A pause, eyes wandering to one side, either in thought or something else unnamed. “No... cream.”
