😍 (I’m gonna keep sending them until you tell me to stop, but even then I’ll probably send one more.)
😍: what was your muse’s first love like?
It was painful to watch the twins fall apart like this, a house collapsing in blazes that you just couldn’t turn away from.
Long story short, or at least what Garrett had shown up in time to know, was that Tyler liked a boy who Dimetre did not like. It wasn’t too outrageous: they were teenagers and this guy could not possibly be younger than 18. He looked like he could snap Garrett in two, and only one of them was a moonlighting superhero.
Then Tyler insulted Garrett’s harsh exterior, and Dimetre started screaming. And it escalated, and it escalated. And they ran off in tears, leaving Garrett and Tyler’s odd friend by the ice rink.
“U-um…” Garrett glanced to the young man, wondering if he should attempt to look intimidating, on Dimetre’s behalf. But the man’s cheeks were flushed, and he had his arms wrapped tightly around himself as if it could shrink his gigantic size. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to…” His breath stuttered; Garrett was not going to deal with a sad giant, no thank you.
“I’ll go talk to Dimetre. Tyler’s brother. Can you make sure Tyler’s okay?” He waited just long enough to see the guy nod before running after a burning trail.
Fortunately, Dimetre had not run far. Instead he chose to join the crowd of a little cafe, head in his arms and very clearly not a customer. But as Garrett approached, passing a stressed-looking waitress, he figured that the staff were just taking pity on the poor kid. “Dimetre? Look at me. Look at me, Stardust,” he murmured, sitting across from the boy and tapping the back of his hand.
As Garrett knew he always would, Dimetre grasped his friend’s palm and wound their fingers together. Teary eyed and breathing shakily, he choked out, “He-he shouldn’t have said that about you.”
“He didn’t mean it. You know that.”
“But he shouldn’t have…”
“And you should’ve trusted him. You’re both very smart, you know.”
Dimetre hiccuped, and Garrett feared that a sad best friend was scarier to have than a sad giant. “I trust him!” he protested, head popping out from his elbow for a brief second. The rest of what he said, Garrett strained to hear through a jacket sleeve. “I just… Scott doesn’t live here. And Tyler really likes him. What if he gets hurt or-or he goes with him?”
There is was. The root of the problem, and they both knew it.
“I don’t wanna be left alone.”
Just like that, Garrett took Dimetre’s hand that held his own and turned it into a firm embrace, as if he could transfer his life to Dimetre with a single touch. “You will never be alone. I… I promise.”
Dimetre did not speak, but his grip gave an answering squeeze, and they just sat there, holding and holding and holding.
falling leaves: you’re stranded on a desert island and here’s the twist; what three things do you NOT bring with you?
Answered this before, but I’ll make a second answer.
“Another person, so I don’t drag anyone down with me. Meat, because the smell could attract unwanted attention. A copy of The Island of Dr. Moreau. That’s quite literally one of my worst nightmares.”
falling leaves, Halloween, the color orange, and hot tea!
falling leaves: you’re stranded on a desert island and here’s the twist; what three things do you NOT bring with you?
“First of all, what kind of ‘Autumn Ask’ is this?”
“Second of all, my phone, my wallet, and my paperwork. Finally, I’ll have some rest.”
halloween: if you could dress up as anyone/ anything and pull it off absolutely flawlessly, who/what would it be?
“I don’t… dress up in costumes. Maybe I’d just throw together a Legacy costume without using my powers? Heh…”
the color orange: do you have a specific song that reminds you of autumn? what is it?
“If you don’t think about ‘Thriller’ by Michael Jackson, you’re wrong.”
hot tea: when was the last time you kissed someone (if you haven’t had your first kiss, who would you like that first someone to be?)
“…In order to come back, I had to say goodbye to an individual who treated me with overwhelming kindness. If they see this, they might know who I am. But they deserve to know how far their influence has reached.”
This is his approximate wingspan. Take a guess. :P
🍀: does your muse believe in luck or fate?
If fate’s real, then it’s a real sonuvabitch. It’s much easier to believe in his own choices and bad luck than the possibility of some other entity deciding for themselves how he should live his life.
What was Dimetre doing here? The warehouses was no place for an 11-year-old, no matter how much he claimed to be “wiser beyond his years” - a line he probably took out of a book he read. Garrett himself wouldn’t have been here if his mother wasn’t scouting the industrial park, dividing and conquering before meeting up and going back home.
And he was 13!
“You shouldn’t be here, you know!” Dimetre jumped like a mile into the air with a shout, and only then did Garrett notice the way he clung to his too-big shirt (Wait. Was that Garrett’s?) and shook like a leaf. A well of guilt opened up when he remembered that his best friend tended to get lost, but never really meant to. “I’m sorry. You’re not in trouble. You just looked like you needed hE-ELp-”
His voice cracked. Garrett was going to die.
If Dimetre cared, he didn’t show it. But he supposed that was how the boy always was; acceptance. Every time he looked at him, Garrett felt like he really meant something to the world. He felt like he was the world. “I got lost-” That was a given. “-so a way out of here would be nice. I didn’t know there were heroes who’re kids!”
Well, he was pretty sure it was just him right now. But something told him it wasn’t other kids that was making Dimetre stare like that. His eyes were actually glittering.
The moon was behind him, perfect, so Garrett took the chance to spread his wings until the tips nearly touched. Taking Dimetre by the hand, he bowed at the waist the way that all the movies did and… well, kisses are weird. So he tapped Dimetre’s hand against his forehead. “Just a sidekick, but I’ll be a hero soon enough. Fledgling, at your service!”
