Damian self-soothes with his violin, not sparring. Fighting can be helpful, but given the time and space he’ll cycle through several different pieces on his violin to work through whatever he’s feeling. He prefers movie soundtracks & Mozart when he’s angry; usually symphony no. 25. Arabic & Syrian composers like Malek Jandali are his favorites to play, though.

THREE THINGS THAT YOUR MUSE LIKES DOING IN THEIR FREE TIME

Violin; oftentimes when he’s bored or has free time, he’ll adapt music for his violin or learn new pieces. He especially enjoys learning scores from movie soundtracks.

Video games; Dick got him hooked on a variety of games, some popular and some obscure. Damian tends to like strategy or first person shooter. They’re a healthier outlet for his hyper-competitive disposition. His favorite partners are Dick & Jon, though he finds malicious joy in beating all of Tim’s high scores.

Volunteering at the animal shelter; though a few ground rules had to be set first, mostly concerning impromptu adoptions. Damian plays with the dogs, reads Das Kapital out loud with ten cats in his lap, grooms the rabbits, and scrubs cages. The shelter staff know him by (fake) name, but they also know not to make small talk and just let him do his thing. The animals are always calmer after Damian visits.

Familial/paternal rejection; Damian loved to remind everyone he was Batman’s true son or rightful heir. Pieces of this are self-entitlement and overblown confidence, sure. But despite his convoluted childhood, he was still a 10 year old boy, transplanted into his father’s care- a father with multiple children, all with great ability and achievement both as robins and in daily life. Aggressively maintaining his ‘rightful place’ was as much a defense mechanism as it was brattiness. Damian had to fight for a place he felt was rightfully his to begin with, but also ensure he did truly belong there.

Death; Damian has died. As long as we’re being real, he’ll probably die & revive again. More so, Damian was (and is) a young child when he died. No matter his training or upbringing, it’s only fair that it traumatized him to some degree.

PERSON THEY CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT: Grayson- and I know I’m going to have to use him later because Damian doesn’t have very many people in his inner circle...........

But Dick pretty much taught him how to be an actual person. He helped Damian acclimate to a completely foreign way of life without talking down to him or patronizing him. He knew when to help and when to back off and let Damian figure things out. PERSON WHO NEVER FAILS TO MAKE THEM SMILE: Cass. Maybe it’s not fair to snub Dick, because the man’s also pretty damn good at making people smile, but Cass just has that emotional intelligence where she doesn’t have to say anything to understand. PERSON THEY FEEL SAFE TO BE VULNERABLE AROUND: Titus. Dogs count as people. PERSON THEY WANT TO IMPRESS: Bruce  PERSON THEY WANT TO SPEND THEIR LIFE WITH: he’s.....11................... PERSON THEY FEEL BETRAYED BY:  Tim? Yeah. He feels so threatened by Tim existing in the same roof and for having his father’s attention. It’s different with Jason and Dick- they weren’t reliant on Bruce like Tim was. Damian is a jealous kid; he doesn’t want to share the attention, and having someone else around makes him feel less important. PERSON THEY RESPECT BUT DO NOT LIKE: Ras Al Ghul PERSON THEY FEEL LIKE THEY HAVE FAILED: I’ve gotta use a repeat here, sorry. But definitely Talia.
