Today’s video, I have a special guest! One of my closest friends, Ryu Soa! A ton of you are familiar with her.. pfft if not, you’re missing out on her content! Even though our content vary from each other, I’m so glad that she agreed to do this video with me! As you can tell from the title... we’re doing a style swap!
As for my outfit, I’ve got on a huge oversized flannel. It’s red, checkered, and it’s a little above my mid thigh. Underneath I have a basic white crop top on. She paired it up with high waisted shorts that have a dark wash. I have the bottom right side of the flannel stuffed into my pocket, just to give it an edge- and so it doesn’t look too short. She didn’t go too heavy on the accessories. Just my standard leather backpack I always carry around with me, and a gold watch. For footwear, she chose out a pair of black leather loafers and simple white ankle socks.
Moving onto Soa’s outfit, I've noticed that layering has been quite in lately. I decided to go in with a pair of white denim overalls that cinch in at the waist while the pants flare out into a cuff that goes about 1 inch high. Underneath to layer, she has a solid black off the shoulder top to contrast from the white. I also added in a dainty gold necklace to compliment her skin tone but nothing too over the top to stray away attention from the overalls. For footwear, I went with a classic. A pair of some superstar Adidas with the thinner sole to top it all off.
This video was quite short, I hope you all understand. I’ll have something longer out next week so please subscribe to stay updated! Maybe I’ll have more videos out with her in the future!

Today is another sit-down video. I got a few requests to do a Q&A so here it is. Of course, I didn’t get the chance to answer every question. But I tried my best to answer as much as I could. If your question didn’t get answered, there’s always next time! I hope you guys enjoy this! A little break from the formal tutorials and lookbooks! I really like doing videos like these so lemme know if you have any other videos you want me to do!
Q: do you prefer a full face of makeup or point makeup?
A: For those of you who follow me closely on my other social media know that I rarely wear a full face of makeup. I only wear it when I'm filming or when I'm at an event. For personal preferences, I love point makeup. Going really natural on the skin and just having one center is the staple. I usually prefer lip statements rather than eyes just because it takes less time.
Q: What concealer do you use/how to cover up dark circles?
A: I’m currently using two different concealers. Color correcting can hide the hues under my bags. I’m using the Etude house correcting cushion concealer in the salmon shade. Rather than having blue under eyes, I have very dull skin since I don’t get much sleep. The salmon really helps brighten the area up. You can’t leave it at that so over it, I use the Aritaum full cover concealer. The formula is on the thicker side so I usually mix in a drop of my face oil to thin out the formula.
Q: Do you like dressing comfortable or dressing to look your best?
A: Definitely the latter. It’s somewhat a part of my job to look my best and I really enjoy putting outfits together. I love dressing up and planning to match each occasion. A ton of effort goes into my styling but I do have lazy days where I just throw on a pair of sweats and an oversized t-shirt.
Q: Favorite type of footwear?
A: Heels. Nothing too fancy. I don’t really like ones with a really thin heel. Thicker soles are generally easy to walk in and it’s effortless to style them. My feet don’t hurt as much compared to the ones with a thinner heel. I’m a clutz so the thicker it is, the more balanced and secure I feel.
Q: What’s it like having to put your life out on the internet?
A: Both a blessing and a curse. Of course, since it is my job to make content for you guys, I have no problem with sharing a few things about my personal life. However, I’m still a human being and I like to have my personal space. I’m sure everyone in the industry feels like this since we’re... just like you guys. I make mistakes and I’m nowhere near perfect. Once little dent in your past and you get ripped apart for it. As much as I’d love to put the people close to me on camera, I have to respect that they don’t have to be making appearances on my channel/posts if they aren’t comfortable with it. I could go on with this question. but this is all I have to say in general.
Q: Advice for starting a youtube channel?
A: It takes a lot of courage to start a channel. If I could go back and give myself advice, I would say.. find your place. The youtube industry is very cut throat. It isn’t ‘oh hi! I make videos.. just to make money.’ This started as a hobby for me because I need something to document my makeup looks on clients. Surprisingly, it turned into a job. Whether it be lifestyle, DIY, beauty, skits, or whatever it may be, find your place and use it as a guide for motivation. There are going to be moments where you find yourself in a slump and hey! it’s okay. I had a TON of those throughout my years on youtube. I was 18, starting off with a webcam. Work with what you got.
Q: What camera do you use?
A: For vlogs, The canon g7x! But for regular content, I use the canon t5i. For beginners, I recommend a point and shoot camera generally because it’s easier to work with. I also heard that the sony a5100 is great for makeup pictures since it has a smoothening filter built in.
Q: If you weren’t doing youtube, what would you be?
A: I don’t think a lot of people are aware of this, but before youtube, I was a full-time makeup artist working with a team. I have a ton of hands on experience and I really enjoyed it! I still do clients from here and there, only if it fits in my busy schedule.
Q: Relationship advice?
A: A relationship is a team. This doesn’t just go for love but for ALL relationships. There are going to be days where you fall out, days where you feel disconnected, days where you feel great, etc. But at the end of the day, efforts should be added up to 100% It should vary from time to time. You can’t give 80% and they give 20% all the time. Percentages should switch frequently. No relationship is perfectly balanced. Especially for busy people, it may be hard to see each other all the time, so sending messages to keep them updated or little terms of endearment make it worthwhile. You’re going to learn many things about each other. Differences exist, so compromise to make things work. If you have to completely alter yourself to fit the person’s taste, then.. maybe it’s a sign to close that door. They should be able to adapt to your differences just like how you would adapt to theirs. Last piece of advice: Have a life out of your relationship. I’m not saying to keep your relationship a secret from the whole world. But, don’t fully invest yourself into it. I’ve walked down that road before and oh man, it was bumpy. I found myself waiting for my SO 90% of the time. I was lonely and felt like a puppy waiting for its owner to come home. So, balance your bonds with others and learn how to enjoy your time on your own.
