"Okay, while I'm here, can you help me figure out a plant for the house that's Moose-friendly? I know there are some, but I am just...blanking on names."

That, and pregnancy brain truly was a bitch. Rikki had forgotten her own dog's name at some point. Pregnancy hormones coupled with her ADHD made her life miserable. Being off her meds made her excessively tired, exceedingly irritable, and incredibly forgetful. Her limited amount of caffeine didn't even help.

He doesn’t even know how to begin having this conversation. Clover has been back in his life for all but twenty days, though it feels like so much more time has passed. How much has happened in the span of these last couple of days? It’s almost exhausting to think about. But the biggest thing he knows is that he doesn’t want to risk Clover’s friendship. Not now, when everything else is so raw.

But he has to protect Diego, Diego’s pack, above all else.  That was the weight he accepted when Diego let him that step closer to him. He cannot jeopardize that.

So he waits, shifting through the paperwork he’s not really reading until Clover is done with her shift.

the shot hits like fire on the back of his throat. hutch is drunk. “damn okay, okay.” he stumbles through the words. the world is starting to tilt slightly, but he knows clover will take care of him if need be.

“i’d fuck sam,” because, of course, he’d fuck sam. who wouldn’t fuck sam? he giggles a little bit, and he will vehemently deny that he did tomorrow.

“i’d marry diego.” it seems like a copout more than anything. clover, for all her little interactions with the man, knows hutch like that back of her hand. knows the little lovelorn look he gets in his eye at the saying. even if he stamps it down quickly.

“i don’t want to kill mar, though.” he whines, burying his head in his hands. “she’s too pretty.”
