his nose was pressed firmly to the ground as king marched his way across the grass of the park, snuffling noisily as he went. every inhale brought the familiar scent he was following closer, that dry hint of feathers mixed with the tang of magic and the sharpness of apple blood. it was a scent king had lived beside for nearly his entire life, and the moment he’d caught wind of it in this place, he had followed it with unwavering determination. across streets and lawns it had taken him, all the way to this nearly-empty park, and it was so close now. nearly on top of him. king was confident he had almost caught up to the source of the scent, a suspicion that was confirmed by the maniacal cackle that rung out somewhere to his left.
head snapping up and around, king was scurrying across the grass before he’d even really thought about it, bounding forward on all fours to reach the source of the laugh. as so it was only a matter of moments until he’d collided with long legs, clawed paws immediately clinging to the fabric of her leggings even as a wail left his mouth.
