send me ♫ for your muse to catch mine singing in the shower
Ren rang the doorbell again, unsure whether he should continue to wait for someone to answer the door. His other hand was getting tired of carrying the large bouquet that Mr. Vasilias had ordered from the shop. He checked the order form again, the address seemed to be right. He decided to just call the man and ask.
“Uhm, yes, Mr. Vasilias? I’m at the door with your delivery…” He held his phone between his cheek and shoulder as he cradled the bouquet in both hands. “Your son? Well, no one’s answering.” Ren listened carefully as he told him where the spare key was (Under the mat. How creative.) and thanked the man. Unlocking the door, he carefully walked in, afraid to startle whoever might be inside.
“Hello?” He called out after finding the living room empty. He ventured down the hallway, hearing a voice from somewhere down it. Was that…. singing? He stood outside the closed door with light leaking down from the crack below, where he could hear the melody and words a bit clearer despite the noise of a shower.
“I bless the raaains down in Aaaaafrica! (I bless the rains!)” He had to stop himself from outright laughing out loud there as the mystery son was currently in the shower singing both voices of Toto’s classic with a high-pitched falsetto. Not too bad, he nodded to himself, but didn’t quite hit those high notes. He waited a bit, all too amused by the other’s singing before finally speaking up.
“Delivery from The Magnolia for Mr. Vasilias!” As he spoke up, the singing immediately stopped. Clattering noises could be heard, barely masking the string of curses that the man behind the door was currently spouting out. Ren started to worry once more crash-y noises rather than bumpy could be heard. “Are you alright in there?”
The door flew open, nearly hitting Ren in the face if he hadn’t taken a step back. He only caught a glimpse of a very flustered man with only a towel around his waist and a blur of blue on his head (Was that a shower cap?) before a rubber duck came sailing at his face, momentarily stunning him. The door slammed in his face, leaving the identity of his assailant unknown.
“I’ll just leave it here then. Sorry for that.” Ren’s face started turning red, not from embarrassment though. He was much rather too amused by the situation to be embarrassed. The man had thrown the rubber duck quite hard.
