a bit of history.

• astrid comes from a rather wealthy family and was raised without wanting for anything. her mother was a therapist and her father was a cosmetic surgeon, so the field of medicine featured heavily in her home during her upbringing. she was/is the youngest of four siblings (two brothers and one sister). she remains extremely close to her brother and sister to this day despite the fact they live in different states and countries. 

• astrid was always quite meek growing up and as the youngest of four very ambitious and competitive siblings, it was no surprise when she was frequently overshadowed. it wasn’t that she wasn’t loved but family dinners were always about successes and what had been achieved that day. 

• as she developed, her confidence blossomed and she found satisfaction in reaching out to help others. she’d frequently volunteer at animal shelters and soup kitchens and a whole wealth of charity events because she wanted to improve the lives of others. it made other people feel good and she could happily announce what she’d done that day at family dinners. 

• when astrid was sixteen her brother was the victim of a vicious crime and lost his life. the family grieved heavily for the bright future and beautiful life that was taken from them. it only drove astrid on more to do what she could to make sure she could one day be able to save lives. shortly after this time, the family moved away from the city and settled in mapleview to feel like they could get a fresh start.

• in college, she left any element of the meek personality behind... or used it exactly how she needed to. she began to indulge more in herself and experimented with all manner of substances. she fell in love every night and out of it every morning and her parents began to sense their daughter was losing her path and threatened to pull her from the programme completely. sensing her downfall, she straightened up and just made sure to keep her habits less public

• it was also at this time that astrid started to make some extra money working as an escort. the exact details of many transactions are unclear but she kept a pristine and sweet image which tided her well. in many ways, she felt it liberated her but in others... it opened her up to a lot more aspects of the human mind. 

• after graduation astrid worked several placements before returning to mapleview to work as a nurse. she now lives in fair lane and remains very committed to her family and her work. 

personality.

• sweet and generous. astrid has a golden heart and is genuinely committed to helping people. 

• self-critical. astrid is no stranger to self-doubt or concern and she comes from a very successful family where she feels the pressure is always mounting to do more.

• level-headed. calm, cool and collected in most elements of her life. it really helps in her profession. 

• self-indulgent. astrid likes to feed her needs and believes as a human it’s only right she does. some people might call them vices... she calls them liberating.

When Astrid entered Misty’s Diner, she debated it. She truly debated it. It had been days since she had tased the man that she felt threatened by. And she naturally had a feeling of guilt, even though she was completely within her rights to defend herself. But she saw him walk in to get food as she passed by and felt the need to apologize. It was stupid.

But here she went.

The brunette walked in, freezing as she entered. This was a bad idea. A terrible, no good idea and —— she was walking up to him. “I’m sorry,” Astrid blurted, feeling the anxiety rise in her chest. “For tazing you. It was completely uncalled for.”

My hands are forever stained pink from frosting, the work sink is filled with heart-shaped cookie cutters, and I’m so obsessed that it should be illegal. This week is always one of the busiest weeks of the year but I LOVE IT. It’s definitely too late to request a special order, but The Rolling Pin is going to be up to our ears in cupcakes and cookies, so if you need a little sweet tooth pick-me-up, you should absolutely stop in. You don’t have to, but you should. That’s all I’m sayin’.
