There were many reasons why Nix disliked being in Castle Krakenberg, or even outside of it. It was far too large to navigate through without some help or a map, not that she could read such a thing in the first place. Though it might’ve been her own imagination, the woman couldn’t help but feel something dark lingered deep inside the castle. Like some sort of presence laying in wait, its aura reaching through the halls. It sent chills down her spine just thinking about it, especially since it usually brought up unpleasant memories of the past. The last reason was the people that tended to hang around there. Some of the commanders didn’t seem like the trustworthy sort to her and tried to keep her distance when she could.
Luckily, there were some that didn’t make Nix feel like she had to keep her guard up but the number was still fairly low. One of these special few was one of Prince Xander’s retainers, Laslow. Sure he was a rumored flirt but that didn’t mean he lacked good intentions. The Mercenary didn’t know him all that well personally but she just didn’t feel anything was off about him. As far as she was concerned, he could be trusted. While she was patrolling a section outside the castle, Nix had the luck to see him wandering about as well. “.. Good to see you, Laslow.”
