“you show up and then this happens,” scarlett said, mild annoyance creeping into her voice as she looked over at the man. this wasn’t his fault, probably not directly. however, with the world worked and the punishment their family hailed from god, she knew that his return to earth and the disbursement of heaven’s arsenal couldn’t have been a coincidence. she stood beside him for a moment before she slid into the booth at the diner. “what is it with you and unhealthy food?” scarlett asked as she searched the menu. she didn’t find anything that seemed remotely appealing; she shut the menu and laid it back on the table. “that’s how you died last time as redford, babe,” she reminded him, “you had one too many double bacon cheeseburgers and extra cheesy tots, with a side of bacon, with the boys.” she paused before her annoyance came out, “how can you even eat at a time like this, cliff? there’s more important things we need to do than eat at a diner. what, with heaven’s arsenal on the loose, your favorite assholes are going to start showing up.” impatience came to her as she frowned, “the least you could have done was pick a better diner.”
