Imagine Scarlett Johansson becoming a motherly figure to you.
At the moment, you were feeling a bit nervous. It was your very first time buying a mother’s day card, and there were so many overwhelming options in the store. Yet none of them seemed to be - right enough. The woman you were buying for today was different - she got so many admiring cards, though most of them, admittedly, were not of this type. You were buying a mother’s day card for your mentor, Scarlett Johansson.
It had started when you got cast for a new Marvel film as a mutant that gets trained by Black Widow. It was your first big film, and with her having a lot of experience, you sort of just clung on. Although many other people would probably have been annoyed by someone just out of their teen years trying to learn from their every move, Scarlett had embraced it and become somewhat like a mother figure to you - hence the card.
Most of them were too flowery. You wanted something more on the simple side. You never thought this would be so stressful. Eventually you found one that said ‘You are the sweetest’ and had an ice cream cone on the cover. Sweet and simple. On the inside it just said ‘Happy Mother’s Day’ and left a lot of room for you to improvise your own lines. You bought it quickly, keeping your head low to avoid being looked at by anyone. Celebrity life wasn’t insane for you yet but with the movie coming out in a few months, you were better off preparing.
And giving it to her was even worse. You stopped in by her trailer on the last day of shooting and just sort of handed it to her, not knowing what to say because everything was in the card. “It’s not my birthday,” She’d say with a confused smile.
“I know, but - just open it,” You said, rocking back and forth on the balls of your feet.
She did. And she mouthed out the words that were written down. ‘Thanks so much for being there for me not only through the shooting of the film but through my personal life as well. The word mentor doesn’t even begin to describe how I think of you, but mother is the closest one that I could come up with. You’ve become like the one I’ve never had and always wanted. I hope you enjoy your day, Scarlett. Have yourself a bit of ice cream, you deserve it xx’
Scarlett would look up at you after reading it, and put her hand over her heart. “Aww - y/n! Come here, I love this. Thank you!”
