The eyes look like they're getting bruised from increased pressure of expansion. Considering they all explode their skin off in the end, this is logical. If you look close, the eyes slightly bulge.
Puffy skin and faces which is likely edema.
If you color pick the whites of the eyes, they're yellow too, ableit a more sick brown on the end of the golden scale. Maybe the infection filters through the liver?
The water thing is definitely rabies brand hydrophobia. But it could be related to the intense and heightened emotions.
