Waking up in a cold sweat, Will nearly forgets where he is and who he is with. He wakes up with erratic breathing, chest heaving up and down with each and every gasping breath he takes and he can feel his heart going a mile a minute, pounding against his ribcage as if it were a bird trying to get free from its confines.
The nightmare had been bloody as they always are. Filled with murder and things he rather not think about and yet is forever imprinted on his mind.
The sound of Hannibal's voice brings him back to reality, his voice and the touch on his shoulder and then his back shouldn't be so soothing and yet, Will finds himself leaning into the touch against his better judgment.
He's silent until he can get his breathing under control and when he does, Will lifts his gaze to meet Hannibal's. "I'm fine." A lie he so often tells even when he knows the Doctor can see right through him.
