        he's sweeping out the barn again, a radio he can't hear playing in the background. he thinks that the horses, the mare and her filly, may like it, but animal thoughts are too complicated for him to zone in on. other thoughts, though— kit looks up and props the broom against an empty stable door.

        never mind that it's two in the morning and he's still in the library. it's technically fall break, but the two heavy looking books he's getting ready to check out are necessary. it's a half hour drive back to his house and— out of instinct and partly because for a deaf man, the whole inherited telepathy kind of sucks. he just hopes he can play it off.
